I've just gone through the Members tabs and looked at all the last online dates. There's a ton that obviously registered something like 2 years ago and that's the last time that they were here. I doubt they're coming back. But there are a lot of members that have contributed quite a bit here over the last two years that I haven't seen in quite some time? What's up? Is our content getting stale?
I know I for one, got really busy with my babies about a year ago and had to drop out of gaming for a bit. I know that stuff can certainly happen, but I want to make sure that it's not because of it being "same ole thing", or because someone got ticked off.
What do you guys think?

I think it takes a special kind of mentality to stick through with a system that is not only unsupported, but even pretty 'uncool' by the 'current standard'.

We're still right here. EEFL! I personally have been outside, camping, concerts, mowing the lawn, and also taking care of a baby. That happens to me in June/July. Nonetheless, M-F I have found a lot of time after 9:00 PM to keep painting. In addition to boring grind of old rusty metal and earthen browns on my 70 or so Beastmen... --I built a new 8ft x 4ft heavy duty upstairs gaming table --I created about 10 new pieces of scenery --I painted a small warband of 5 dwarf rangers --I started assembling the giant pile of Space Marines I have accumulated over 20 years (40K!??) Fear not, I don't think I'll ever play, just something to mix it up I still try and visit the forum every other day on average. IOU you guys a tactics article on Tomb Kings. IOU you guys some scans of old 1998-99-2000 White Dwarf pages. The Brewers Select, if you will - Arena of Blood! (Spoiler alert: the Bloodthirster Wins!!!!)

I've noticed a drop in the hobby section (and admittedly I am part of the problem). Not sure what is going on, summer may have to do with it.

For me it's 2 things:
1- It's summer, so there's more traveling and time spent outside (heresy!)
2- I've felt it a bit re: lack of players to actually play. I was playing some games with my wife, but she hasn't been able to as of late. Tans most people in NYC have switched to T9A, with no interest in looking back. So there just aren't that many opponents.

I became a God. Waiting for my first sacrifice... Lol, congratz! Welcome to Mt. Olympus! Well, it's good to hear from you fellas. It does my heart good to know that there are those of us who are sticking with 8th and not leaving.
I too have been busy this summer, moving, starting a new job, etc. I love keeping up with you guys here though. And all the BatReps that are coming in motivate me to play more!

I'm here and even with the Summer, kids and a lack of players inhibiting things I'm still chipping away at painting my collection... figured with no new contento coming out now is my chance!

It's summer time! That means less time spent on THIS hobby and more time spent outside while I can.
Don't worry though, eventually I will get around to painting/assembling again. I've got a hellpit abomination and another WLC lined up from a buddy; those are the last two models I need for my 2000 (and eventually 3000) points list!

Summer in general causes a drop.
As I've stated before, I was always surprised on how quick people dropped 8th edition. I guess most players didn't play the game for the same reasons I do. It seems people went to Kings of War, AOS, or some other game(s) for reasons I will never fully understand. Shrug.

I wasn't really surprised, people in general like to be playing the current thing (even if it is sub par). As others have mentioned it takes a certain type of person (usually a grizzled veteran) to play old editions of games

I think it is just a general life thing. People only have so much time and find this forum (or another gaming forum, video game, phone app, etc.) and have interest in it for a time but just get busy and loose sight of it. I myself was a very active member at Bugmans Brewery when I was in high school and college but in the past five years have gone on there only in very limited cases. Nothing against the forum but I only have so much time.

This forum has only 334 members, which to be fair is quiet respectable but you'll always find the few that say more and do more. I registared a while ago but only started posting recently. Some people just look around and don't add to the conversation.
The Tomb King forum for example has 3875 members with the newest just yesterday. Sure the forum has opened up to AoS and T9A but it's only talking (in general) about a single army. Of those 3875 members there are 578 (15%) who have never posted, not once. I wouldn't feel too bad about it. First of all you can't force people to post, second the numbers of members isn't always an indication of a good forum.
EEFL is just that, we're now playing a vintage game system and I for one still like playing Warhammer so that's where I'm at. The numbers may dwindle but as said above, if there's people to play I'll play and I don't really want to start afresh, I have all the army books and all the spell cards - I never collected end times.

It feels like there is a nice core of people here which is slowly growing. I think this forum is gathering a good amount of quality content and has a nice atmosphere
