Does anyone know where I could find the 8th edition rules for this character? All I can find now is AoS rules.

mottdon - I've photographed the rules from the Turkenham something book (it's upstairs and I can't remember the name - the one with the Chaos Dwarf army list) + those for individual Carmine dragons, put them in a word doc and added them to my drop box (link below). Let me know if you can't download them (or PM me your email and i'll send it direct to you). EDIT - updated the dropbox link: Elspeth and Carmine Dragon

No probs, I'll leave the file there for a week or so before removing.

It's a gorgeous model. My buddy Matt Has one he never put together. He hates pinning.

Well, I got this one off eBay and it's already assembled and primed. We'll see when I gets here.

It is a super epic model. Are you going to use it as Elspeth or put a new rider on?

Well, it looks like Elspeth might already be attached, but if not, or if I can manage to (GENTLY!) remove her, I would try magnetizing her to the Carmine and use it for the Sisters of Twilight model that strutsagget found in a YouTube video. Super-cool!

Regardless, I do want to use her in my Empire army as well. Loremaster of Death? Yes please!

Problem with her under 8th ed rules is she is if I recall correctly a very squishy target. It sounds great to fly to the flank and purple sun down the line but she's a big model (so hard to hide) and enough small arms fire will knock her off the back of the dragon as she T3 W3 with no ward as I recall.
I think the End Times / AoS approach of combined profiles is generally speaking a more player pleasing approach. The ridden monster problem of 8th is -I have this awesome cool centerpiece model and I want to field it . . .a bunch of archers plunked 1/2 of it's value off the back turn 1. Maxed ward/armor saves mitigates this in 8th. Combined profiles fixes it in AoS/End Times.

But the dragon alone...DANG! A breath weapon that can be shot up to 12" away and THEN acts like a cannon shot? Anyone hit by the blast takes D3 wounds? DANG!
The benefit of a Loremaster of Death is just icing on the cake to me!
Throw in a Lore of Life wizard just to keep her (and it!) up to full strength! DANG!

It's hard to keep such a HUGE target alive in a world full of cannons. It's nasty, yes, but significantly outranged by cannon... and a couple shots will put it down posthaste.

My main opponents are VC and WE. Not too worried about cannons right now.

I have it (just run it as a riderless dragon using rules from SoM or Monstrous Arcanum) and it is a great model, good character. Certainly has potential (with rider), but will be a target from the start. I am personally glad for the lack of a combined profile, as the ones in the End Times were. Combining Wounds and Toughness (like monstrous cav or similar) is fine to me, but combining attacks and magic item bonuses, etc (is Deathclaw using Ghal Maraz?!) is not to my liking.

Well that is true for sure. I forget what her LD is. Hopefully LD 9 for spirit leach but normal empire level 4's are Ld 8 aren't they?
