Just to slightly threadjack but it falls under the same topic, what size magnets do peeps use to hold the models to the trays? Would you use different sizes for 20 vs 25mm models. I'm seriously considering doing it just for quickness of setup for games. I think it depend on weight. If its plastic it dosn't matter. Neodyms/rare earth magnets are very strong. For me its both speed of game and the possibility to move all units with the new bags or just an oven tray.

I was more worried about being a muppet and buying magnets that were physically too big to bit snuggly under the base I am still elaborating but dryads, glade guard, eternal guard all holds very well with just a 2mm thick 4mm width round cylinder neodym magnets. When magnetising my forest I used 8mm width for my big huge oak trees and its more then enough. But I started with 10 of each for just those two sizes to try out. Waiting for 100 of 5mm width to arrive. I am going to use green stuff to get them to right height on the bottom of the bases by pressing them down flattening the green stuff.

Oh, and don't forget as I did. Magnet to magnet have specific sides. Magnet to steel sheet do not.

The speed of setup and put away is a huge factor probably takes me 1/10th as long to get stuff out and start playing.. I would have to double check sizing. Really 20 vs 25 doesn't matter as much as pewter vs plastic.
i glued a magnet to a breath mints tin and use that to establish my standard polarization. I put a stack of magnets on it and use a sharpie to mark the top of the top one. Let it dry 10-30 seconds and move it off. You can actually start multiple stacks and then just go around the circle. Mark always goes up on your bases
matter more for magnetizing wings and weapons but I like doing it for bases as well.

I simply use magnetic sheets that you can get at Walmart or any office supply store. The are thin and really easy to cut. I cut them to the shape of the movement tray and glue it down. It has just as strong an attachment and doesn't show up (because of the dark brown color) like shiny metal.
I highly recommend this! Super easy!

Unfortunately we dont have any walmarts or cheaper store that carries magnet sheets/vinyl. I have only found it at hobby stores for around $6 per a4 sheet so far, but I will test it.

I use a small blob of green stuff, set the magnet into that and then push it into the bottom of the base. For 20 and 25 mm plastic minis I use a single magnet. For 20 and 25 mm metal minis I use two magnets at opposite base corners. These are strong enough that I can grab a unit by the movement tray and tilt it 90 degrees (perpendicular to the ground) and not have any minis fall off. I don't have many minis on bases that are larger than 25 mm so I'm not sure what size you would want there.

That looks awesome! I love the way you have the guys in the back higher on rocks and the guys in the front have their spears lowered, ready for a fight! Great job!
