Played my first league game yesterday against Paul B.'s Chaos Dwarfs. I was quite confident having won my previous two games against this (or a very similar) army. Only thing I was a bit worried about were his two magma cannons. Scenario we rolled was Dawn Attack which handed me a large advantage against the slow moving dwarves. There are some photos Paul took of the game below. My juggernaughts and DP sweapt round his flank and, with the assitance of my hellcannon, warhsrine, and chariot, more or less ate his whole army. One block of chaos warriors did no fighting and held quadrant, while the other one just got shot to bits by the magma cannons. He managed to take one quadrant back off me with his hobgolblin wolfriders, but I claimed the win 3-2 on quandrants in the end. Despite winning the game, he did though in some respects have the last laugh, because of our tournement 'secret missions'. His hobglobins captured a hill thus giving him his, and I had selected 'raid the baggage' which meant I had to have more units with standards (fortitude bearing units as we call them) in is DZ than he had in mine, which should be easy against dwarves, right? But foolishly I forgot about the secondary objective. Even in the last turn I could have got it because my skullcrushers had, after inflicting carnage, overun off the table and returned. Then in the last turn I could not resist cutting them loose to charge his blunderbusses in the rear. I routed them, but it gained me nothing as I'd already won and served to pull the crushers out of my DZ. Even though I won the game very convincingly, I still only got 19 tourney points to his 15 due to these secret missions. Which just goes to show they provide an interesting extra dimension that can be really important. Paul took a few photos of the game, although we quickly both forgot about them in the heat of battle. Great photos and I love your banners!

I've updated the table with the current group positions.
The Group stages are now just over halfway complete with 12 of the 21 games played (one of the Group D players has dropped out)
Group A
Still too earlier to tell who will go through, though I suspect Luke C will win and being completely biased, I'm hoping that i'll be the runner up.
Group B
Antonio only needs to turn up to qualify but the other qualifying position will all depend on the outcome of the final game between Antonio and Steve. I'd lay odds on that Antonio will win this game (as he does play tournaments and is the reigning SELWG champion) but Steve only needs to complete his secondary mission with a loss to get the runner up spot (and he was the 2015 finalist and so isn't a push over player). I'll also note that Chris R in the group, was the 2016 Finalist, so this was a tough group.
Group C
This is a very close group at present. Our very own Bluke is definitely through to the qualifying as with his now painted army, he only needs to play his final game to top Paul B. I would say that Neil is likely to be the other qualifier as he is a consistent semi/quarter finalist and Lizardmen is the army he knows best.
Group D
As with group A it is too early to tell. If Dan hadn't withdrawn, I would have been shocked if he didn't top the group. Alex M is also quite a good player so has to be a contender once he finishes with the knockouts of the Kings of War comp and starts his games here in ernest.

Congrats to Bluke for winning his final game vs Neil and thus the group (before all the group games were finished) and for being the first person to qualify for the knockout rounds.

The group stages of our competition have officially closed and the knockouts have commenced (tables have been updated in the initial post on this thread).
In a surprising turn of events I scraped into the knockouts by a gnats whisker (due to the Orc General fluffing his final game) and now face off in a rematch against the Skaven force I played in a warm up game before the competition.

Being completely slack, I realised that I never updated the thread with the final results! 1st Place - Neil's Lizardmen 2nd Place - Our very own Bluke with his Warriors of Chaos 3rd Place - Luke C's Dark Elves and I got the losers 4th slot with Beastmen. Not that i'm complaining as I was pretty pleased with that.
