I'd probably swap the Archmage for a Loremaster for just 10 more points and use the remaining 55 points to equip your Loremaster and BSB a little better.
As far as equipment goes, if you are going to be a shooty army, give your Noble the Reaver Bow, White Lion Cloak and Heavy Armor. If more CC, then the Dragon Armor. The Golden Crown or Cloak of Beards can be nice too for HE.
I think you have a great start on your army though! Have fun and I'm looking forward to seeing your BatRep and paint jobs soon!

Shield of Merwyrm for the Loremaster!
Lvl4 wizard is overkill at 1500

What they said. Loremaster with book of Hoeth and shield of Merwyn will kill at that point level.
2 warmachines will have a chance to take out some other stuff. I keep fumbling the one dice shots so usually go for the multi-shots.
Ulthuan.net is the only other warhammer forum that I know that is still very active btw. Friendly people too. We should befriend them...

If you take the shield of the merwyrm and book of hoeth on the Lore master then he won't be able to use his GW, so I'd recommend giving him the sword of might. Will make him more hitty and he will keep the ward from the shield. Alternatively you could give him the armour of caledor (2+, 6++) as then he use his GW, a dispel scroll and something else (perhaps ring of khaine to try and boost his and the units ward) and put him in the Phoenix Guard.

There are numerous magical weapon options which are all viable depending what sort of points you have to play with. Every time I go Loremaster I just can't turn down the shield though

The Shield is a good option. I'd probably just put my points into keeping him and his unit (Swordmasters) alive until they see combat, then let the Swordmasters do their thing. If you want cheap protection the Crown of A-whatever will give you protection from that one odd shot that gets past his unit.
As for the game, find your opponent's most dangerous unit and hammer, hammer, hammer it with your shooting (you have plenty) then let your Swordmasters clean things up. Also, I know you face O&G a lot so if you see Trolls on the board, remember that the SoA arrows are magical AND FLAMING! So bye-bye regen. I'd probably hang on to deploy that unit until I saw where he puts his Trolls to make sure they have good shots at them.
Also, after reading the current thread on Flaming attacks, it might be worth giving the Swordmasters unit the Banner of Eternal Flame so that they can cancel out regeneration as well as potentially cause fear to any chariots that might charge them.
