Hey guys, long time without posting anything but this weekend I finished the modelling on my Empire army and I can finally say that this army is complete! There's nothing painted in this army (a shame) but since the day I started them I wanted to focus my painting on my main armies and finish one of them before starting painting a new one. Lots of thing happened and changed since, by I managed to stay true to that one thing (not quite hard, but still the itch to paint some Empire was there sometime). So yeah it's only boring plastic and metal, but it's now a complete army! Based as a Reikland army, the plan was to get a unit of Greatswords as the main unit and some Knights as support. Then 8th edition came and the Greatswords became a horde unit and there was suddenly an actual unit of Reiksguard Knights so I added some too. Plus a few more things here and there because buying minis is addictive! Anyway, this is an army of about 7,500pts if we follow the minimum core requirement. Here's some group shot I took of them. Hope you like them! The full army; Army's left side; Army's right side; Karl Franz himself, with a Tank and a Captasus by his sides; Generals and Captains up front, and you can see a Mounted Beast Wizard in the unit behind them, and a Mounted Captain on the left in the other unit behind; Witch Hunters and Priests; Some Wizards on the right side And a pair of Mounted Warrior Priests to support my Knights;

Looks good! And yeah, you need Demi's, but you have plenty of time to add those while you paint the rest!

Did I see this posted on the 8th FB group the other day?
So when you paint them, will you be using the Reikland colour scheme (not that I know what that is) or will you use your own and/or have allied detachments in other colours (e.g hockland).
P.s it can't be complete yet as there are no halflings or hotpot catapult! (And yes I know they are not from Reikland but that's no excuse 😉).
Edit: I meant to add it's an impressive amount of models. Though I don't envy the time it will take to paint them!

Nice metal Flagellants & hideously expensive Reiksguard Foot Troops. I think I spy some Greatswords with the Knight head-swap to bulk them out, nice work I would pick up a War Altar because I like both the old & new models & some Halflings as Huntsmen just because they are awesome. Then you just need to set aside 3 years to paint it all

good sized. now paint! although, wait a minute, needs more demigryphs Looks good! And yeah, you need Demi's, but you have plenty of time to add those while you paint the rest! I started the army back in 7th edition, so when Demis where introduced they didn't strike me as very Reiklandish. While not impossible, I don't plan to add any for the forseable future. My Greatswords horde is what my army is centered around, so in regular-sized games they take a lot of points already! Did I see this posted on the 8th FB group the other day? So when you paint them, will you be using the Reikland colour scheme (not that I know what that is) or will you use your own and/or have allied detachments in other colours (e.g hockland). Edit: I meant to add it's an impressive amount of models. Though I don't envy the time it will take to paint them! Yes, I did post it in the 8th edition group so you might have seen it there already And yes when painting time will come, it will be in Reikland color which is all white, with some accent color (traditionally red, but could be anything really, mine will probably be green as it's my go-to color). For the Halfings, I have a friend who is building an all-Halfings Empire army so they are more than covered there Nice metal Flagellants & hideously expensive Reiksguard Foot Troops. I think I spy some Greatswords with the Knight head-swap to bulk them out, nice work I would pick up a War Altar because I like both the old & new models & some Halflings as Huntsmen just because they are awesome. Then you just need to set aside 3 years to paint it all By hideously expensive Foot Troops, do you mean in points or money? Because they are in both! Thankfully I got very lucky and got them very cheap (about $25 for 25 models), so it was a hell of a way to start the unit! And you're right, the rest is made of some plastic Greatsword with Knight helmet and some other Knights from another manufacturer (forgot which, probably Mirliton). Never really considered the War Altar, although I would go for the old one I think if I was to get one, partly because I like old models, and also that the only thing I would really want to add eventually would be a Luminark (pew pew big lasers!), so the old Altar wouldn't look to similar to it. But I always tend to stay away from those no-brainer "must include" units for some reason (especially when they don't fit the theme I'm going for), so that's another unit I never considered along with the Demis.

I'm not sure I would call the Luminark or War Altar must includes by any stretch. I tend to stay away generally form some of the newer things but I think the Empire releases were actually really strong model-wise

The Luminark is totally a good piece for the Empire! So many players just get in this "net-list" mentality and automatically think that they should use the Hurricanum because...Halberdiers. But that's not necessarily the case! Sure, the Hurricanum works well with the Halberdiers, but I really like the defense the Luminark provides. It has great synergy with the Witch Hunter as well. His MR2 boosts the Luminark's 6++ for a nice little save against magic missiles (which can seriously thin out a Horde of Greatswords. Since you'll be wanting those GS to be getting stuck in combat at full strength, I highly recommend a Luminark, Witch Hunter and Warrior Priest in with them. Looks like you have them ready with a few good Archer detachment screens as well!

I tend to stay away generally form some of the newer things but I think the Empire releases were actually really strong model-wise I was refering to the Altar more than the Luminark as a "must have" unit in general. It was a recurring unit I saw a lot on the web and in other lists (probably in 7th edition too when I started the army, but memory is a bit foggy on that). The Luminark is totally a good piece for the Empire! So many players just get in this "net-list" mentality and automatically think that they should use the Hurricanum because...Halberdiers. Looks like you have them ready with a few good Archer detachment screens as well! Good to know! I know the Hurricanum was the prefered choice in general because it seemed to synergize better. But I kinda liked the idea of the defensive bonus of the Luminark (on Knights and Greatswords mostly), plus the bound spell is much better than the Hurricanum to me. I'll probably get one eventually if the opportunity present itself, or custom-build my own!

Hurricanum had caused rain twice now. I love it when my opponent brings it. My luminark has destroyed many warmachines.
Epic army dude!
