It's the first Empire list I've seen in an age without a Stank! I bet it feels a bit like you're naked... Great swords are possibly my favourite Empire unit but you rarely see them used (at least around here), so I like you have them and such a big unit too. For the rest I can't really comment as my experience is normally against them, being smashed to pieces by one of the regular tournament layers at the club.

To me this list seemed friendly and weak on first glance. Then I realized both your big blocks (and the detachments!) will be stubborn. so, I picture the wood elf guy trying his hardest to get all his hard-hitting yet fragile units aligned for that perfect charge. Then he jumps your block with all his guys expecting to break you. But...you are stubborn+hold the line. Then he sheds some big salty elf tears as you countercharge. This may be what you are after?
Especially if the guy is relatively new I would explain the stubborn/hold the line situation. I like the list. low magic, no war machine, slow blocks against a very very different kind of army. should be a fine game of warhammer, far away from cookie-cutter tournament play.

Lol, well...maybe not TOO easy for him. I toyed with the idea of leaving the two Witch Hunters at home and taking a Mortar instead, but I didn't want to dedicate a unit to defending it. He's almost sure to bring Glade Riders.

The arch lector gets no ward save? Cool greatswords unit, let me know how they do. Why are there 2 stubborn units? The crown and...? Why two witch hunters, expecting some wizards that will come close?

Honestly, not expecting too much from the Arch Lector. He's mostly just there to buff with hatred and prayers. If push comes to shove, I'm hoping that the Terror from the Horn of Sigsimund pays off.
Greatswords are stubborn. It's part of their special rules. So sticking the Crown of Command in with the Halberdiers makes two Stubborn parent units.
The Witch Hunters are there mostly as extra, higher-attack options and maybe to get a lucky shot off.

In any case, Witch Hunters are reasonably cheap. For 50 points, you get a character, MR 2 (itself normally priced at 30 pts), unit protection against Terror (through Grim Resolve), and a special rule (Accusation) that tends to have a useful negative psychological impact on your opponent.

Plus, the Witch Hunter's MR2 works nicely with the Luminark's 6++ ward save. That's a combo that I love to take to provide my units with more defence, something Empire troops can't get enough of.
You'll see it come into play when I manage to get our game posted. Rather entertaining!
