Okay, here's another 4000 pt Dwarf list that I was trying to make as a fun list without much gunline and not loading up too much in any one unit. Let me know what you think. I'm a little concerned that it might be a tad too character heavy, but I like everything I've put into it and don't know who I'd cut.
Lords:
Belegar Ironhammer - 305
Daemon Slayer (RoParrying, RoFury, MRoSwiftness) - 215 [This guy is in here mostly as an offensive powerhouse that will be both difficult to handle and ignore. Placing him and his unit on a far flank, can draw units out of position, or either allow some great flank attacks.]
Heroes:
Joseph Bugman - 165 [He'll be anchoring the advance deployed units of Rangers for some quick hitting. I also kinda want to see how 3 units of these lads, supporting one another, can work.]
Thane (BSB, Shield, MRoGrungni) - 153 [Obviously, there for re-roll support, bubble protection from shooting and to provide the Hammerers with Ld10.]
Runesmith #1 (2xRoSpellbreaking, MRoGromril, GW) - 141 [This guy will go in with the Longbeards to provide AP, high-strength attacks and a chance to destroy a spell (as well as stop it).]
Runesmith #2 (2xRoSpellbreaking, RoFurnace, RoStone, Shield) - 118 [This guy will go in the same Ironbreaker unit as Belegar. He'll be providing them with AP as well since they won't have the high strength attacks as other units. He'll also provide a second chance to destroy another spell. He's built more defensively to work with Belegar's Oath Stone.)
Core:
30 Longbeards (FC, RoStoicism, Shields) - 455
20 Quarrellers (FC, GW) - 310
20 Thunderers (FC, Shields) - 290
Special:
20 Hammerers (FC, MRoValaya, Shields) - 395
24 Ironbreakers (FC) - 390
17 Slayers (Musician, Standard Bearer) - 224
Gyrocopter (Vanguard) - 100
Rare:
19 Rangers (FC, Shields, Bugman's Rangers) - 372
10 Rangers (FC, Shields) - 180
10 Rangers (FC, Shields) - 180
Total: 3996
So, I'm thinking that the Rangers can set up on one side of the board and screening for the vanguarding Gyrocopter. The Slayers or Longbeards can move up and reinforce these lads. While the Slayers could provide some hard-hitting power to the Rangers, they could also dissolve rather quickly and leave this portion of the board weak. The Longbeards on the other hand could anchor this side but may not be able to completely kill their opponents the way Slayers could. Either one could work here though depending on how my opponent deploys.
The Ironbreakers and Hammerers will form the middle blocks and the main push up into the enemy ranks, hopefully being able to divide and conquer. The Thunderers and Quarrellers on either side of these two blocks providing shooting cover and attempting to clear chaff/redirectors.
Belegar is Stubborn, thus making the Ironbreakers Stubborn as well. The Longbeards would have the RoStoicism, making them Stubborn. Hammerers are Stubborn and Slayers are Unbreakable. Hopefully, Bugman's Rangers will at least be Stubborn part of the time as well. With Ld10 and Ld9 running throughout the entire army, and a centrally located BSB and General, there shouldn't be too much running among my ranks. The weakest points will probably by the Thunderers and Quarrellers. Hopefully having 20-strong units, plus being nestled in-between some very hard blocks will keep them relatively secure until help could arrive.
What do you guys think? Are there obvious flaws? Would you love/hate to face this army?
