These Days of Nurgle that GW are doing have motivated me to start up my Nurgle Daemons as soon as I finish up my skaven (I'm close!)
I threw together a 2000 point list:
Lords: Great Unclean One w/ lvl 3 upgrade, Greater Gift
Heroes: Herald of Nurgle (bsb) w/ lesser locus of virulence
Core: 30 Plaguebearers w/ full command 30 Plaguebearers w/ full command
Special: Beast of Nurgle Beast of Nurgle 3 Nurglings
Rare: 4 Plague Drones w/ full command, plague proboscis
I wasn't sure if a Greater Daemon is a good idea/friendly in 2000 points so here's an alternate take (list 2):
Lords: Daemon Prince of Nurgle w/ chaos armor, lvl 4 wizard, greater gift
Heroes: Herald of Nurgle w/ lesser locus of virulence
Core: 30 Plaguebearers w/ full command 30 Plaguebearers w/ full command
Special: Beast of Nurgle Beast of Nurgle 2 Nurglings 2 Nurglings
Rare: 4 Plague Drones w/ musician, standard, plague proboscis
Thoughts?

Imo there's nothing wrong with taking a Greater Daemon at 2000 points, especially in a mono-God list.

Agreed grandmasterwang. I have a Nurgle Daemon army myself, and GUOs are fairly priced. Besides, in my eyes, there is something just not right about a Daemon army WITHOUT a Greater Daemon.

Greater Daemon it is!
I don't have a lot of experience with Daemons and their gift system; does anyone have any recommendations? There are some pretty decent gifts in the greater gift pool, I figure if I can't get +1 W or a 2+ armor save a plague sword (poisoned attacks and d3 wounds sounds great)/50 point magic weapon would be pretty decent.
Also I like the idea of the lesser locus; poison on a 5+ sounds pretty handy (better than an extra S4 hit that the greater locus provides for 10 more points) but regeneration also sounds decent. In the end I thought the extra offense would be better for the unit.
Beasts are in the list as chaff/chaff removal and the nurglings are there to help slow down anyone that might think about vanguarding forwards, as well as acting as chaff/chaff removal. 4 seems like a good number for the plague drones, regardless of the unit frontage I come across (unless they're running something less than 5 wide with 20mm bases) all 4 will always get to attack. And I figured that since it's the plague flies that are doing all the damage that it would be a good idea to give them poisoned attacks.
Well...that's all my thinking for now.
