I think that a lot of people actually play it as the Stank automatically failing, but I like your interpretation better. IMO, it should be off the Engineer. That's who you're really playing. The tank is just his armor. I suppose I'm a RAI player though. Quick question: If you struggled against 30 Flagellants, do you think you'd have lost combat vs 40? I ask because I currently have 30, and I'm debating if I might need to get 10 more.

I also think you're right in that you need Storm of Magic rules (4D6) for games that size. Anything less just doesn't have any impact on the game. I've got a 5000 pt game coming up, VC vs Dwarfs, so less magic phase doesn't really bother me that much (I'll be playing Dwarfs), but to be fair, I might play test it just to see what might be appropriate for rolling on the winds of magic at that level.

After a quick internet search and some rulebook lookups it looks like the Stank does indeed test on the Engineers I. It's classed now as a chariot, and chariots use the highest relative value among the crew/beasts/chassis for statistic tests.
Looks like we did it right!
I was worried about magic dominating a game that size (that's not what we signed up for!) but especially for him it seems like it's needed if he has a hope of getting off multiple prayers across multiple units once combat has been joined in earnest.
Let me know what you think about a 5000 point game! I'm unsure where that cutoff is between large and small games where one is better than the other.

the amount of magic dice really is a matter of taste. how much salt do you want in the soup? there is no right answer. It's a bit problematic in a VC vs dwarf match where one side clearly benefits from more dice. with Empire vs WoC I think both armies can make about the same use of dice and neither is dependent on magic. Also something to consider: there are a few 'never' used magic items that will be more attractive if you know there will be relatively low winds of magic and you have more points to splurge on stuff like that.

As I scroll through... So many Razorgors. I think 1+ Razorgor managed to photobomb almost every picture.
It's like "Where's Waldo?" but if Waldo had giant horns and giant tusks.

What an epic! It wasn't all Chaos' way...I saw that the Doombull got ran down like a pleb Like the flylord Daemon Prince. Seems like the Empire foot soldiers did better than their supposed 'heroes'.

Thanks. It took me a long time before I pulled the trigger on my DP conversion. I knew what I wanted him to look like but could never find all the bits (this was before a lot of the sweet nurgle units were released, like those plague drones). Plastic Daemon Prince kit, head from the spawn kit, green stuff, and some metal dragonfly wings I found online. Was pleased with the result!
