I was messing around list building in army builder and came across something that didn’t seem right and wanted the collective wisdom of the group.
Builder wouldn’t let you take this armour on a bsb paladin. I think it is a mistake in the program, based on the fact that a bsb paladin can’t upgrade non magic equipment (e.g. a shield) and the armour comes with a shield. However you can give the bsb paladin magic shields and as the armour is magic and the shield is part of the armour, I can’t see why the bsb can’t take it. Am I missing something?
(The armour gives a 4+ save and WS10 but you must use the shield so can’t take 2 handed weapons).
Cheers

I suspect this is a left-over of 7th edition, where the rule was that a "character that is not allowed to carry ordinary shields is not allowed to carry magic shields" (p.121). This restriction does not exist anymore in the 8th edition.
Of course, I do assume you have not given him a magic standard, because that precludes him from carrying any other magic item.
To add: In the 6th edition ABs (like the Bretonnia AB), BSBs were generally precluded from carrying additional equipment. In the 7th edition, that was only the case for the first two ABs. I always assumed this to be a left-over from the 6th edition, and would allow my opponents with those ABs to give their BSBs shields, if they wanted.

Cheers FvonSigmaringen, I think in this case the army builder program is just incorrect.

Oh, I do agree. I just think the cause is another case of an undead rule, a ghost of editions past.
