The new GW releases for this Malin Portents Age of Sigmar release look really cool. A new ethereal hero, female Khorne marauder chieftain, and I think one other that I am forgetting. Likely nurgle.

Well, maybe not my favorite sculpt, but I have to admit, he'd probably remind me to roll for his "magic mushroom" every time!

I don't know, as much as I love the look of our spoopy ethereal hero is that S/he (Is a genetic Knight) is a Stormcast turned traitor.

I like the Marauder Chieftaness. She's a bit more thick and I have an easier time believing that she actually belongs in the setting.

So what exactly is all this "Malin Portents" about? Is it an expansion or scenario?

It's pretty awesome. GW developed a large scale narrative event/product release cycle in conjunction with players - an international group 'Narrative Event Organizers' (instead of 'Tournament Organizers') More info here: wearetheneon.com/2018/02/05/so-you-want-to-run-coalescence-malign-portents/The NEO group has tried to create a systemic space for narrative gaming since AoS released. Some large events (like the NOVA open) offer a purely narrative non tournament style event track. They've been doing really good stuff. Honestly I think folks like Kevin would love what they've been doing. I'm a tournament guy by and large but a lot of gamers aren't. It's nice to have campaign/scenario play get a lot of love during the AoS era with only about 1/3rd of each General's Handbook (or less) be focused on competitive play specifically.

Well, that does look very cool! Their site is very well made and informative! Making events like this easy to jump into right away runs parallel with it's success. And given that GW is backing it, says a LOT for them as a company! I'm thrilled to see this happening! It's why we play! If you can't create and explore your own scenarios, then what's the point!
gjnoronh, do you run a game store? Are you going to participate in this?

I don't own a game store! I run the Da Boyz Grand Tournament daboyzgt.com/menu/ which is more then enough gaming related administrative hassle in my life I also run the local Blood Bowl league and another pair of Blood Bowl tournaments at the Crossroads GT. I am probably going to run this Malign Portents thing on 3/17 in Rochester. I emailed a FLGS yesterday to see if I can host something at their store.

That's why I thought you might have a store! Still, that's a lot of supervision! And by the looks of this campaign and the backing of GW, it might be a good idea for you to get in on it early. I wish I could do something like that, but with 2 1/2 year old quadruplets, time is rather lacking. I manage to fit in a few hours of painting/modeling each night (after the kids go to bed) but that's pretty much it.

You are actually getting more hobby in then I do. By the time I get kids home, fed, homework, lunches packed, dishes it's bedtime by and large. I get 1 night roughly every other week to do my blood Bowl league.
Honestly I find planning these 1-2 day events out months in advance with me wife works better then me trying to get in a regular game by and large. We can look at the schedule make sure she's got support for managing our two kids (grandparents etc) or is in a good place for not being busy with her work and decide which one to hit makes sense. We just did the next 8 months roughly of gaming events and despite having 15-20 or so options I was able to really only make 4 or so work .
Of course there is a lot of family chaos with quadruplets. One virus making the rounds could make a trip impossible for you I'm sure!
