The Black Library has the WFB 8th edition rulebook as well as a range of supplements for download (i.e. the End Times books). Here is what they say:

"Warhammer: Rulebook is designed for use with Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles. That game system is no longer supported, but this title remains available for those who want to recreate the epic battles of the lost world."

I was thinking a while back if I wanted to start a new army in the future getting the 8th edition army book might be difficult.

It shouldn't be hard to find any of the eighth edition army books. So many guys quit and they are selling for around $15 on BT.
