I give my heart, soul, and body to the Lady who protects.
The castle of San. Lyonesse stood before the hordes of Chaos, the Ruinous powers could almost be heard laughing as their favored minions marched their army to war. The castle mustered what forces it could, the clarion call had been sounded yet the knights were few and their training poor. Command fell to the young Duke, their father thought to have sired no male heir till Levis suddenly appeared in time with his sister's disappearance. Across from this young Duke stood a grand experienced Warmaster of Chaos, riding a great Manticore into battle as if it were a simple steed.
Piety stood paramount, the Grail Knights leading a prayer alongside the Prophetess of the Lady for protection from these foul creatures. Even the Men at Arms knew the Lady was with them as the Damsel commanding them unveiled the most sacrosanct of Prayer Icons, a mighty cheer for the Lady called out so that even those who cowered within the castle would rejoice.
The experienced Warriors of Chaos, some blessed by Khorne others by Tzeench marched firmly forward, marauders rushing forward toward the enemy trebuchet that so offended the Gods. Whilst the army marched forward the scream of Hellcannon fire impacted the ground before the Knights of Brettonia, terrified prayers offered to Hashut for daring to miss a shot by the fearful crew.
Only a few feet into the charge did the Knights Errant of Brettonia finally hear their liege-Lord and stay their horses, nothing but insults hurled downrange at the Chaos Knights who so mocked them in their mere presence. Fearful cries from the trebuchet were ignored, the Lowborn knew that if they were to abandon their war machine they would doom their family within the walls, instead hurling a rock with great accuracy at the Khorneate Warriors even as they were harassed by bowfire from the Yeomen.
While his fellow Chaos Warriors could never see it, their Warmaster was grinning under is helmet. The foolish knights had fallen into his trap, with a silent signal his Knights charged into their young inexperienced knights on the flank, while he drove his Mantacore forward into the Questing knights on the opposite flank. His Mantacore, and a Chimera tore the Knights apart, nothing left but blood and half eaten armour. His Chaos Marauders drove from the flank of the Knights directly into the flank of the Men at Arms who blocked the way to the rear lines.
Duke Levis felt even more hot under the helmet, demanding that the Paladin leading the Errant Knights hold the line at any cost! The Prophetess and Damsel both drawing the power of the Lady to protect the soldiers around them, a shield of thorns for the peasants and helping the Grail Knights awaken a wildform! The Lady was with them as they drove back the Marauders, cutting them down to a man and holding firm against the Chaos Knights.
The Warmaster chuckled softly, indulging himself in more combat as his beast tore straight through the Peasant bowmen, leaping over the heads of the Men At Arms who had steeled themselves for his attack. He cursed his mage, as once more the impotent Tzeench worshiper had been effortlessly parried by the Prophetess's mastery of magic. Not all went well however, with a mighty crash the prayers to Hashut went unheeded at last and the Hellcannon tore free from its moorings, charging the Yeomen who harassed it so much. The Yeomen scattered, or at least tried before the great machine crushed them under its weight.
(To be continued)
So, in case you are wondering, I kinda forgot to take pictures of the battle, so I am trying to describe it as best I can. Sadly I don't have enough time to write it all up at once, so will get to the rest of it when I can.
