I've been playing a bit of 40k over the last few years and it's made me a bit sad about our lack of dynamics in a WFB battle. The BRB scenarios are lame and other written scenarios, while cool, are only good for occasional use. Here's my plan for playing EEFL Warhammer with simple objectives:
Set up the battlefield in an agreeable manner (I prefer rolling for terrain as described in the BRB).
Choose sides (12" deployment zone)
Roll off and take turns placing objectives in this manner-
1. Your own zone, 6" from a table edge, 12" from any other objective
2. No man's land, 6 from edge, 12 from another
3. Opponent's zone, 6, 12
There will be a total of 6 objectives on the field, 2 in each zone.
I'm using 1.5 inch poker chips and they feel right for this. 40mm round base is the same size.
Scoring:
At the end of your turn, earn 25 victory points for a home objective, 50 points for No Man's, and 75 points for objectives in the enemy deployment zone. Keep track of these points throughout the game with a scrap of paper or I prefer dice.
To claim an objective:
Be the sole unit within 3" of any part of the objective.
Unit must either contain some type of command model (standard, musician, or champion...or a character) or be in the bubble of a general or BSB. This represents someone there to give and receive orders from the general.
If the unit lacks "command", simply pass a LD test to claim the objective.
Engaged units cannot claim and contested objectives are simply not scored.

I've played maybe 10 games using this method and it's revived a play style that I felt was getting stale. Now, I find myself building a list that can utilize a chaos spawn, a doom wolf champion in a direwolf unit, and other units or command models that I could never justify. Also, it rewards pressing into enemy territory while avoiding complicated game mechanics.
I'd love for you to try this EEFL objective play in upcoming battles and let me know how it went. Thanks.
