Hi all, So my primary forces are Dwarfs (Dwarves if you like!). I just love the fluff around them, abs the way they play on the field.. they have a stubborn refusal to die! I started collecting Dwarfs probably in the early 1990s, around 5th edition I believe. I think I had a few crossbowmen, an old 'trumpet' style flame cannon and a few other odds & sods including some Warriors. I've no idea what I did with them- probably flogged them, but here I am, 25 years later, collecting my favourite army again. I have a few threads on Bugmans for those fellow Dawi that still lurk there, but here you are for those who dwell here. I've decided to make this thread purely for models I've painted myself. As with my Empire thread- more to follow! I chose the theme for the colourscheme from the 'Battle for skull pass' boxset design of blue, gold and metallic- I like the 'pop' of the gold (Vallejo glorious gold) First up, my Dwarf Lord on shieldbearers. Although the model itself isn't the best (I'm not a fan of the huge wings!), I'm quite pleased with how he turned out: Next up my battle standard Bearer (Great model!) Thirdly, my first completed horde of GW Warriors (or longbeards!). I think the models are 7th edition maybe? Now two painted Gyros... bit fiddly to glue together, and they do look like fish, but they look pretty cool: That's it for now- I've got more units partially done, or done but not photographed, so I'll get some more snaps taken pronto!

Very nice Dawi you have there, and an excellent tribute to still the best ever starter set GW has produced. Regarding your question as to the origin of the Dwarf Warriors kit, it appeared toward the end of 6th Edition, along with the army book released at that time (for some reason Dwarfs got 2 army books in 6th Edition, though the second one could easily have been considered written for 7th, given that it served us well throughout that Edition and into much of 8th).

Hi all, took a few more pictures earlier.. again, this is just stuff I've done myself, not painted models I've purchased. Generally I enjoy painting, although sometimes I'll take a couple of weeks break or switch to painting my empire for a bit of variety. First off, shield Warriors. The core of the dwarf force, and usually the ones that are required to tarpit the most dangerous foes until the elites arrive! I need to get more of these painted up as I only have around 15, but 'sexier' models generally take priority! Next, one of my favourite units - Irondrakes. Coming back to the dwarf force after about 25 years means I'd not come across these chaps before, but they sure are flexible! They can move & shoot and make ideal flank guards. They pack a punch in combat too! The models do debiate from my blue-and-gold colourscheme though, but I dont think they look out of place: Finally a cannon completed with crewmembers: More to come!

Keep up the good work. Menacing unit of Irondrakes.
They are the one Dwarf unit that eludes me!

That is a really nice gold. Better than the brands I'm using.

That is a really nice gold. Better than the brands I'm using. Vallejo Game Colour 'Glorious Gold'. I find it very much like the old 'Shining Gold' from Citadel (when their paints were actually decent quality!)

Keep up the good work. Menacing unit of Irondrakes. They are the one Dwarf unit that eludes me! Irondrakes are one of the easiest units to make given that they are still available from the GW website, as the second possible build of the Ironbreakers kit.

Hi all, a unit of 20 Ironbreakers finished! Actually fairly easy as they're 90% silver... quite happy with the overall effect. I do like using Ironbreakers - they're very very hard to shift indeed!

Well done, they look good. The blue goes nicely with the metal colour!
