Hi! thinking a thread would be nice to see some progress. Started a new chaos army in the autumn this year. Already have around 2000 pts painted high elves, but wanted some leasure army with more converting and painting freedom. I initially was going for beastmen, since in 6th Ed beastmen and warriors of chaos could combine their army lists. But I realised this was changed in 8th Ed. I wanted to do a heavy focus on larger beasts, so warriors of chaos seems like the best options. My main painting ambition is to reach table top standard. Some pictures I had on my iPad of a chaos chariot and some trolls:

Both units looks excellent! You don't need to aim for reaching a tabletop standard for your painting, you're well past that already.
Dark skin tones can be hard to pull off well, but you've definitely achieved it on both the trolls and the chariot beast.

I like the idea and use of the orc model as a chariot, it’s suitably dark. It could also double up as a war altar.

They're looking quite monstrous!
Don't let rules stop you from enjoying this hobby, if you want to use beastmen with these mosnters (which thematically fit rather seamlessly) I doubt anyone would object

Thank you for the kind words guys:-) Next up was some old war hounds from my previous Warhammer session >15 years ago in 6th edition. They are already painted but I have not taken any pictures afterwards… I am currently converting and kitbashing a chaos giant. Love the old giant kit. Bought the new kit containing three giants for roughly 110€, decent value. If you only bought one the price was closer to 45€. And a square base right out of the kit.

That's an awesome conversion with the Sloggoth into a Chariot/War altar.
That looks so fitting!

That giant looks awesome! and the armour looks great to me, I thought it was meant to be some sort of leather armour a la chaos marauder and it absolutely fit the miniature

The giant is done. I'm reasonably satisfied. Not super happy about how the amour (side pads) turned out, but the skin turned out better then expected. Since this is more or less an experimental/pleasure army, I guess the results will be a bit more volatile. I go for the color scheme or model I feel for at the moment:-) --- Completed: 3 Chaos trolls 1 chaos chariot 5 chaos warhounds 1 giant Around 470 pts. Next up: 10-12 chaos warriors 1 chaos sorcerer Throgg or exalted hero. Throgg is more fun, but back in 6th edition (last time I played) special characters was more or less forbidden in my area, especially at tournaments. Hence I'm not sure Throgg will be approved for in most games. That should take me close to the 1000 pts mark.

Thanks guys! Btw what a fantastic kit the giant is. Lovely sprue, so many cool bits. Will use some for a unit filler in the chaos warriors unit. — I have assembled the chaos warrior from the old slaves to darkness starter kit (the kit which was replaced just recently). This one was listed as an aspirant champion of chaos. Was this an old hero model in WFB or something?

These are looking fantastic. My personal favourite is the hound going "arooooooo!"
