So, after having finally started painting some of my minis I thought that it would be prudent to create this little blog to capture the progress and to help keep me motivated. The theme of my army is that of a Mercenary Company that has been corrupted into the worship of Nurgle. Along the way of its travels and adventures it has incorporated various defeated enemies into its ranks. This Chariot here is the first painted in a pair. I've yet to decide if I want two smaller charioteers or just a larger Putrid Blightkingy buddy in the second one.

These here are some of the few guys I've painted in my block of Warriors of Nurgle with Shields. Their fluff is that they are the elite soldiers of the Company who serve as a field bodyguard for the VIP:s (i.e Sorcerers and BSBs). With the fluff in mind I wanted them to look like an eclectic collection of individuals from all manner of backgrounds rather than the usual uniform unit.

Here's first a picture of the first model I painted since I got back into the hobby a year ago. He's one of my Forsaken. Here's a WIP of a character on a Palanquin I use for all manner of purposes, but mostly as BSB now a days. I somehow seem to never get around to actually finishing the model.

Cheers mate! I've been dreading the painting as I remembered how much I loathed it but it turns out that I kinda like it this time around. I'm currently working on my Jabberslythe count-as Chimera which I'm hoping I'll have finished before christmas. I also need to build two gorebeasts of Nurgle so if anyone have any suggestions for conversions I'd be glad to hear them. I have an old WoC chariot which I'm thinking of using for one of them and I've also completed one of the monsters. I might use a corpse cart for the chariot of the other.

I have some Gorebeasts still on sprue from my chariots I put together a while ago. Was thinking about mounting them on 40mm bases and counting them as trolls or something but you're welcome to a couple of them if you'd like.
That's a great looking chariot, what did you use to make it?
I need to paint up my WoC chariots. They've been sitting assembled for far too long...

It’s still my least favourite part of the hobby but it’s quite a nice way to unwind. The chaps here have also helped immensely as they are very supportive even when you turn out a load of ‘that’ll do’ tabletop standard to offset the artwork of theirs 😀. I also love a good painting blog

Thanks mate but I have a couple myself that I can use, it's just that I prefer to heavily convert them or use something else as I'm not a fan of their aesthetic. The chariot is a Mantic Ogre Chariot with some plasticard to the front. The horses are old GW ones.

I also love a good painting blog Yeah I myself have found that the painting flows especially nice if I find a good podcast to listen to. Currently it's the 7th 'season' of Mike Duncan's Revolutions, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone interested in history.

I used to not like painting as well but have turned around.
Great Chariots with the Blight kings at the back. They look really good.
Regarding Gorebeast Chariots, these don't really capture the 'impact hits' side perfectly but I saw an amazing pair of Nurgle Gorebeast Chariots made from the Warshrine kit with each of the 'carriers' from the Shrine kit acting as the Gorebeasts. They looked amazingly Nurgly and the size was spot on.

In terms of gorebeasts I have one built but not yet painted. Here's a little collage I made of him back when I first made him.

So I "officially" finished my Chimera today. As you might see he's currently wingless and missing 3/4 of his tongue that fell out during a transportation. The lack of wings I'm not really sure about. It seems only prudent that a flying beast should have wings but I really like his appearance without any and the jabberslythe's original wings are almost comically small. In the future I might magnetize some suitable wings for him but up untill then he will have to practice his long jump. The lack of a full tongue doesn't bother me, especially since my original concept for him was to paint all the green-stuffed gaps in him (finecast ftw!) as scars to highlight the regenerative nature of his defense. Perhaps some day I will get back to the mini and do just that. If that happens I'll probably also do something to highlight the scales/warts on him. The stuff inbetween his head and front paws were a hell to paint as I'd already glued together the model but in the end I think that he overall turned out quite acceptable.

Nice, I'm a big fan of the Jabberslythe model. You could probably use the Slythey wings on a Daemon Prince or something.
I use a Jabberslythe with my beastmen using the Jabberslythe Elder rules I've posted on this forum in the Design section.

Yeah the Jabberslythe model is great. Currently the wings are still lying in their box with no purpose to them. I do however happen to actually be building a Daemon Prince of Nurgle from a Mordor Troll Chieftain. Was thinking of giving him Rot Fly wings but I will definitely see how he look with the Jabberslythe's wings whenever I get back to working on him.

The wings from a Wyvrn are a good size and I bet they'd look good on the Jabberslythe. Maybe you could find a pair somewhere?
