This was a very interesting and fun read. I enjoyed seeing fully painted armies on both sides of the field!
I'm curious: You're in Vietnam and I've heard you lament about not having a game scene there; are both of these armies yours? Are you playing against yourself? I think that's awesome if you are!

I'm curious: You're in Vietnam and I've heard you lament about not having a game scene there; are both of these armies yours? Are you playing against yourself? I think that's awesome if you are! Yes, both of these armies are mine and all these were solo plays (I would bite my left nut off if I can play a WF 8th ed game with one of the enthusiasts here). I was a very competitive tournament player during my time in the UK and needed to develop a decent solo-play technique that allowed me a lot of practices, other than the standard twice a week at the local club, before big tournaments. It served me well in the UK tourney scene ages ago, and it still serves me perfectly now, to the point of making me very self-sufficient, or rather complacent. I was supposed to kickstart the first Vietnam tabletop wargame club a year ago, but I procrastinate till now. At this moment, the first Vietnamese Warhammer club has been established by the first Warhammer shop ever in Ho Chi Minh city, but they only play 40k and tiny bit of AoS. The plays are very rudimentary as the absolute majority are newbies and the shop itself is even smaller than my gameroom with self-cut paper terrains no less! But judging from the enthusiastic gathering so far, the future is very bright for a Vietnamese 40k scene, at the least.

Sounds promising!
I'd think that the best way forward would be to play a few small games (AoS probably) and see if you like it and get their overall attitude toward Fantasy. If they like it, then maybe start dropping a few hints toward playing 8th.
Of course, a big game of 8th isn't short, and if you are limited on time and space there...

Nah, I'm living in Ha Noi and I will hammer the newbs in my club with 8th edition pronto. There is an excellent Warhammer Warband rule for 500 pts game and I bet they'll love it as long as I let them use my collections at the beginning. Almost forgot, the obligatory Man of the Match award after the battle of Tarano goes to... Cesare Borgio! (well, bloody obvious) Yep, in Imperial fashion and equipped with a mighty sword gifted by the Emperor no less! Just have to say I absolutely adore this model! Classic GW at its best. P.s. the Voland's Venators official motto is "Last One to Die's a Sissy!" in case you scratched your head during the Batrep

You've done a beautiful paint job on Cesare there and I've heard LOTS of other people talk about the beauty of that model, but I've never been able to bring myself to buy that particular one. I dunno, maybe it's all of the buckets of blood dripping from the sword blade. Looks like he just dipped his blade in molasses. Plus, if he JUST got such a fresh kill, indicating a battle, why's he stopping to clean his blade? Lol, I suppose it just bothers me. You've certainly done him justice and brought him to life!
P.S. - my favorite Empire Captain model is the one with sword and shield and a pot belly! Lol!

That is a great model and paint job (as normal). What actual figure is it?

My vision for this dude is he's probably a high aristocrat, obsessed with decorum and a high life. Despite all these foppish tendencies, he's after all a superlative swordsman and usually chosen to do the challenge for his army. And for most of the time, he killed his opponents effortlessly, the only thing that is dirtied in the process is unavoidably his sword, which he then cleans with an impeccably pristine handkerchief gifted by some of his paramours. Just like Cesare in this series That is a great model and paint job (as normal). What actual figure is it? An old Citadel Empire Captain produced in the early 2000. I won the bid for him from an Brazilian ebayer and it took 2 months to get here (that's how special he is, eh!)

I love the model, but I think I would like it better if the [sculpt] had a little less gore (they're comically large drops) and a bit more fine sword, something more akin to a cutlass or a rapier, not the giant broadsword that the model has.
Would still use it though, these are just tiny nitpicks.

And as usual, your paintjob on him is superb.

There, now this model just opens the new way to the Warhammer fluff that we have never seen before. Orcitologists in Alfdorf and Nuln would pay a ton for this momentous discovery, no?

Stunning as normal. I love the warpaint on the lions and the use of the old metal phoenix guard on your tiranoc chariots

Catching up on your blog. Fully painted, ranked up units on nice terrain, this is what Warhammer is about for me. And looking closer each and every model is exceptionally well painted!
Love the dark armour on the charioteers. Now in between everything else I need to do I also want to paint a dark armoured High Elf army...
