G'day guys
Can anyone bring me up to speed on Valten's story? After the SoC retcon, I'm not sure where he stands... is he still Sigmar incarnate? I loved that guy, and his model, what's his story?

In the end times Karl Franz is Sigmar incarnate.

Not totally sure about his story in ET. I'm thinking that he was killed by some big-bad like Archaon.

Somehow Sigmar himself came back and kicked Archaon's butt, right? Was he wielding Ghal Maraz then? Also, where was Karl Franz in all of this? I know he had the "essence" of Ghal Maraz at one point.

Damn you Archaon, you had ONE job to do! yep, his job was to end the world...and he did. Of course now he has to hunt down his arch-nemesis Sigmar yet again in a new and infinite world of many realms. It's a tough job being bad. But, there was an Age of Chaos in between, where he presumably was twiddling his thumbs.

Omfg serious? I loved Vulten, so he was, in the end, no more than some spiffy warrior who "somehow" had the Warhammer? âšī¸ Was he still the blacksmith, born under the comet and protege of Luther?

The End Times lore was a travesty imo. Since GW decided to kill the Old World and all the awsome stories that got me to play that way I don't recognize them as cannon personally. I won't play end times games either. So many characters and lore lines were so easily tossed aside and distorted. Asuryan hating the pheonix kings and Malakith being accepted by Alarielle and by Alith Anar were the last straw for me. To each their own if you do like it but I turn my nose up at it.

Valten's story in the End Times was similar to Storm of Chaos. He duels Archaon at Middenheim and is beheaded, though a Skaven Daemon interfered in the challenge.
As for Sigmar, he had been trapped in the vortex of the Isle of the Dead on Ulthuan by Tzeentch. When the vortex spell was broken Sigmar escaped. This happened just as Karl Franz was killed by the Glotkin. Sigmar merges with Franz's body.

I still haven't finished reading it all. I cannonise the bits I like and ignore the rest. I like the addition of the Glottkin and Maggoth Lords for example. Also in my Warhammer cannon Vlad is now back. Some of the elf stuff.... with the pro wrestling style heel/face turns.... no thanks.

Damn you Archaon, you had ONE job to do! yep, his job was to end the world...and he did. But he failed to kill Sigmar so we now we're stuck with that deplorable AoS... my statement stands: "Damn you Archaon!"

I honestly couldn't agree more. I despised The End Times very early on. The fluff was horrible and the rules were extremely unbalanced. I'm glad I didn't waste even dime on any of those books.
