Hello everyone! I'm Thomas, from France. I started painting minis about 10 years ago with 40k, and have always eyed fantasy a bit. For a long time I've bought a couple minis, learned the lore and rules but never fully commited to building an army. Until a couple years ago, when the Old World news and a friend who used to play fantasy back before End Times convinced me to properly start. Since then I've been slowly building a TK army, and I'm thinking of starting Beastmen as well. I'm just starting to play my first few games, and I hope the Old World coming out might reintroduce some interest in 8th in the larger wargaming community, although I also intend to play the Old World if the ruleset is good. Cheers! Bonjour, Thomas, et bienvenue a EEFL! Good choices of armies I must say, Tomb Kings and particularly Beastmen have a big fanbase on here, and will both be factions getting full support in the upcoming TOW game. Additionally, while you're still playing 8th, if you really want to give Beastmen a proper 8th Edition outing I suggest you take a look at my own 8th Edition Beastman book that I have compiled for the enjoyment of everybody on this forum: eefl.freeforums.net/thread/3059/warhammer-beastmen-8th-edition-v1I'm always open to any feedback any willing playtesters have, so have a go with it in a few battles and let me know how those battles go! I wish you every success with your Warherd, fellow Beastlord!

I'm in southern Wisconsin.
I got started with miniature gaming with historical wargaming due to my dad being very active in historicals. My first Warhammer was Warhammer English Civil War.
In High School around early 6th edition my dad got me this black and yellow "how to paint wargames armies" book and I was drawn in pretty quickly by Warhammer fantasy. I purchased a starter set and a few army books and it took a couple years before I found a group to game with. I kept at it through the End Times.
When AoS dropped I initially switched to Bolt Action for my main game for a few years, I still enjoy it, but I'm less active in it. My main historical, or quasi-historical I would say, is Team Yankee these days.
I do play AoS, mainly because my friends play it and it's easier to find events, but I didn't start until it's second edition... and it never quite felt right. I don't like running armies with large numbers of figures as it feels so much more cumbersome to manage. I have gotten into Song of Ice and Fire lately and I'm having a blast with that, much more so than AoS.
With Old World coming I've been preparing for that, but also have done some WFB again. I recently played a 6th edition game with a friend with my VC vs his Brets. Despite some mistakes (tactically and remembering rules) it was a tie/minor victory in my favor. It got me fired up for WFB and Old World both.
While Empire was my first army, I quickly fell in love with the Vampire Counts. The aesthetics of the 6th ed army book and the article in the "How to paint" book already had me inclined to the undead already. My main two armies were Vampire Counts and Chaos Dwarfs, but I also ran Nurgle Chaos Warriros a lot too. I dabbled with other armies as well (partly because I enjoyed painting projects) including Dark Elves, Nurgle Demons, Skaven, Ogres, Orcs and Goblins, and Dwarfs.
