Think my hobo khans on wolf is done for now. I find it pretty hard to paint the LoTR models. well, these larger-than-life photos are merciless. I am sure this guy looks fine from a foot or two away. But, I agree, models with normal, non-heroic heads and hands and weapons are harder to paint for me as well. I did a few Warlord metal Landsknecht leaders recently and ended up just giving up when it came to eyes and teeth etc. Don't try and highlight every last rivet on that iron daemon, it will drive you up the walls. And don't ask me how I know that...

Will keep shading with different shades on all the feathers and some dry brush but forgot my dry brush at home. I like your iron daemon. It's also very good to have to look at to see different possibilities. I do have it pretty easy with how I decided to do metal so I will not highlight that much. My recipe for chaos dwarfs war machine metal. 1 airbrush bolt gun metal over black primer 2 dirty shade with an agrax earth shade 3 dry brush bolt gun metal 4 dry brush silver/steel Then I only do 2 complementary colors, turquoise, and gold. Keeps it pretty fast and the dry brush suites dirty war machines well.

Testing my basic colors: Will go for bright orange beards like slayers.

I like the orange. It's a nice contrast to the cold blue and metal. Maybe you could even layer it to appear like a flame-beard? That could look cool and be rather thematic as well. Just a thought though.

Starting to come closer on how I want my dwarfs as the turquoise and beard is starting to take shape. Still, some metal and details to pick up. Firery enough mottdon?

It works, but your fire is backward. Usually, it's best to start with a bright yellow, then go darker, further out toward the tips. Flames are usually the brightest closer to the source. Does that make sense?

Does that make sense? No, that is not how a beard is glowing . The part furthest away has most air and glows strongest. You would be correct with a campfire though 😊
