I think they were busted in 7ed so they got nerfed(from what I have read). With that said WoC is pretty decent anyway so running a block or two of 20 marauders still leave plenty of points elsewhere for brokenness.
What actually do work is flails and mark of Khorne. Still subpar but that is a good Hammer. 15-16 ws4 S5 attacks.

Yep one unit that went from one extreme to another between editions. In fairness it is mainly a points issue (in both editions). Once they are outfitted they aren’t far off warriors and warriors are better in every way. Units of 10 forsaken can be fun and something a bit different.

I really like the fluffy way of leaving them without a mark aspiring for it.
Threat them as expendable chaff (maybe units of 12) and every battle they do anything have a small ritual upgrading them to warriors.

Allthough I love the idea it sadly doesn't fit the fluff of my marauders. If that wasn't the case then I'd definitely would want to field a unit of unmarked marauders and see them struggle to get their mark, and eventually warriorhood by accomplishing achievements on the tabletop.

I quite like the list.
I think it will be fun for you to play with and you shouldn't really get complaints.
You never know...the marauders might just combine with the Gorebeast chariots and pull off some magic!
