Oi, drengbarazi! Returning player here. I'm willing to resurrect Warhammer locally with tailored "house army lists".
After moving to the opposite side of the country and after the shock of End Times the hobby of mine went to hibernation mode. Lately I've noticed I miss the good ol' rank-and-file action in the Old World. So, I went through the heaps of old miniatures and got an idea to compile couple of house-lists for different factions. Hopefully I could lure some local active boardgamers to have a game of Warhammer with me every now and then.
I thought to make up multiple smallish ~1000-1500pts army lists, that should be as fluffy and fun to play against each other as possible. Competitiveness is not necessary, but the internal balance of the lists is the priority.
I'd like to write army lists for some or all of these factions:
Wood Elves - The main army of mine a decade ago. Basicly any list compostion is possible. Maybe even a forest spirit list and an elf list separately. The Empire - A good thing about this faction is that Geedubs still seems to provide some Empire kits. And I've got plenty of them already. Warriors of Khorne - This would be the most fluff-heavy faction. No magic allowed, (un)naturally. I wonder if I could design this list to be fun to play with, because I also have some magic heavy Vampire Counts too. I'd like to build the vampire counts list around a necromancer of some sort.
Does this seem to be an unreasonable idea? Could it even be possible to design so many lists that would be fun to play against each other and being fluffy at the same time? I can't say for sure, because my earlier active gaming days were years ago and can't remember the rules and all the gimmicks too well anymore.

It seems reasonable and very possible!
I'd advise not to go too overboard to start with and just make up maybe 5 lists.
Fortunately 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy makes it very possible to make fluffy lists that are fun to play against.

I would say it sounds AWESOME! The main problem with fun list is that for the game to be fun it needs to be even chances of winning and that is usually hard unless doing both list.
Maybe you can also restrict regarding different points/handicap?
Might not be needed with the armies you mentioned but have never face vampires myself.
I would start with just two armies and when you have found the balance add the third.

Sometimes I like to play goblins in bloodbowl

It sounds like a great idea. If you want any help raising potential lists at those levels and for those armies You only need to ask as I know a number of us love list building. There is already a thread somewhere for 500pt starter armies for each race so another one for 1000pt or 1500pt sounds like a fun challenge ๐ Edit - 500pt lists are here: eefl.freeforums.net/thread/933/starter-army-lists

Not really something you would give to the hand on someone else? My best games have been the ones thats been even over 6 turns and really seldom the ones over by turn one no matter if i win or loose.

Sounds good to me as well, and with the armies mentioned there should not be that many issues in terms of getting the right models. Assuming you want to use GW models only, all of the OPs suggestions still have a decent selection available. Wood Elves lack their "regular" base troops and cavalry, and Empire lacks their knights (the Demigriffs are still around though!), but with some creativity you can work around this. Vampires are in a good spot, and Khorne armies ven gained some great models!
Soyeh, I would love to see if and when this takes off!
