Thanks guys, I really appreciate the kind words!
It feels so good to have a square based Old World project again. I've missed it more than I realised.

I'm not usually a fan of AOS minis, but these look soooo awesome ranked up. Amazing paintjob too.

You have changed my opinion on these models. A great looking unit!

I think a lot of the AoS stuff could be used to great effect in a more appealing setting (TOW, obviously). There is so much cool stuff for Chaos, Greenskins and many others, just waiting to be reimagined on square bases.

Their team are obviously very talented but there have been a number of occasions recently when I’ve seen people paint stuff and made the minis look amazing when I’d written them off based on the website. I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere 😂

I agree. There's nothing wrong with using the new AoS stuff for 8th, it's just about finding the right "fit". The new AoS Trolls for example, perfect Stone Trolls. Or the new Witch Hunters? I couldn't imagine a better fit.
But things like the Sigameine Dragon riders? Lovely models, but so much work removing all the symbols, swapping riders, etc, and for what? A made-up unit with homebrew style rules? The motivation certainly has to be there to see that leap through.
Honestly, I think in the earlier years of AoS, there was a general mentality at GW of, "Whatever we produce for AoS, must not work for 8th ed. because we need to force people away from that game!" But now (especially with the popularity of the TWWH games) they've been changing this mindset to "Why not make them to fit both?" So much of the new Undead units that have come out recently work perfectly with 8th ed. Let's hope it continues.

Small update. Light is crappy here today, and so are the pictures, but it will have to do this time. The first batch of Death Knights, and also the first character, who shall be known as the Lord of Bones. Had to put him on 50mm or he wouldn't rank up. I realised these models have a really high bone-to-other-stuff ratio, but I kind of like it.

I take it they'll be used as Black Knights, as they're too heavy to be ordinary Skeleton Horsemen? Also, what will your Liege-Kavalos represent in Fantasy rules? I imagine a Wight King on Skeletal Steed, thoug I would have thought the model is too beefy for those rules.

lordofskullpass: Thanks. Yes, they will be Black Knights. Not sure whether to run the Liege-Kavalos as a Wight King, or maybe a Vampire. As you say, he's a bit big for a Wight, especially his steed.

So I failed miserably at paintlogging, mostly due to having a useless phone camera for taking pictures. imgur.com/a/zCznYmP (link to video, can't seem to embed it right) But more importantly, I didn't fail the painting project. The army is done and just went in the boxes, ready for the drive up to Stockholm tomorrow. The battle for Wissenland is on Saturday. We're so hyped! I'm sure the other guys have better cameras for the battle report I intend to write.
