I own about 30 of the IoB Swordmasters as love them so much, I doubt I would prefer more dynamic minatures as I like the regimented & calm look over the more modern GW style of everyone needs to be mid fight leaping off some scenery.

I also wish they'd do a multipart kit for Swordmasters. I really like the monopose plastics in Island of Blood, but the dynamism you can get out of a kit like the Dark Elf Executioners kit was much envied. You think tyhe Druchii executioners are dynamic? Are you thinking of the older 6th ed metal ones?? TyrrenAzureblade is referring to the later 8th Edition plastic Executioner/Black Guard kit that was released as one of many kits for Dark Elves in 2013. I personally was mystified that they didn't release plastic Ellyrian Reavers, Lothern Sea Guard and Swordmasters for High Elves, yet they gave two White Dwarfs' worth of miniatures to Dark Elves in which they revamped pretty much every metal model in their range into plastic. The faction bias was strong even then...

I have them all, or were these just never sold separately from the Island of blood box (I can’t remember if they were)?

Furthermore they are monopose plastic. Which I like. (I ultimately prefer metal. But if I have to use plastic, monopose is preferred.) I think most people shun monopose plastic kits and prefer multipose.

As thegoat correctly said, they were exclusive to the Island of Blood box, and were monopose so didn't really count as 'kits'. I meant it was a shame GW never gave them multipart kits outside of that starter box, yet they gave Dragon Princes, Phoenix Guard and White Lions excellent multipart kits. They could certainly have released kits for Sea Guard, Reavers and Swordmasters in May 2013 when their book came out.

There was a brief period where the IoB minis were available for order independent of the box set.
A very brief period, sadly.

I'd be interested to know when that was, because that would have been a great idea. If you're referring to Spire of Dawn, then that was pretty much a rerelease of Island of Blood so doesn't count.

I myself have a 35 model strong unit of those bad boys, and I love them to death, but I wouldn't mind something that's a little easier to customize so I could try and make the first rank look more threatening with swords aimed at their opponents.

These chaps…. Dynamic ? Don’t get me wrong, I like the models, only that ‘dynamic’ is not a word I use to describe them.

In my experience so called multipose plastic kits produce units of homogeneous models with only superficial differences. That is one of the reasons I prefer classic metal monopose models whenever possible. The unit usially ends up with more variety among its members.

No, it was in the WFB 8E run. I want to say they were available for a couple months, six months to a year after the IoB release, but I don't remember for certain.

Were they actually available through normal channels in individual retail boxes? Or was this a direct sales white box special situation?
