What's this, I should be painting Chaos Dwarfs but I'm still painting Night Goblins and Squigs?! Once you squig you can't stop. The Hoppers are painted using contrasts with some quick highlights. They came out quite nicely. I am enjoying contrast paints on the whole for cranking out models fast. I have a few gripes - the coverage can be annoying once it dries. The high viscosity means you sometimes find dots where it has pulled away meaning you have to go back and touch up. I won't be painting all models with them but I think I will slowly build up my collection of them. The new Hoppers are also really annoying balance-wise. They are going to be a pain in the arse whilst gaming. I might have to magnetise a skirmishing tray for them or something. There really is no need for them to pose models at such stupid angles although I quite like the actual models themselves. Couldn't be bothered trawling ebay for more old metals so I will just mix them all in with my current ones.

So good! Squigs are so iconic I love how the new models look on square bases! I remember way back in the day when they used to keep bouncing. Boing boing

oh god, those were the days. It could take forever to resolve.
Really well painted Horace. Putting the contrast paints to good use.

Great looking squig hoppers, and BSB too. I've got a unit of those new squig hoppers as well, and they fall over all the time. I think putting some weight under the bases will do a little bit to help, but the models are just really badly balanced so magnetising is the only way to ensure they won't fall everywhere.

I echo the above, love the recent models and I also like the photo setup. It really helps show them off well.

Cheers for the comments everyone Great looking squig hoppers, and BSB too. I've got a unit of those new squig hoppers as well, and they fall over all the time. I think putting some weight under the bases will do a little bit to help, but the models are just really badly balanced so magnetising is the only way to ensure they won't fall everywhere. I think you are correct, I've just started trying to bodge together a homemade magnetised tray but it is extra awkward for skirmishers because they move when they engage in combat! Those all look excellent! Squigs of al, kind are fantastic and also forgeworld command kit. Had my eye on the FW command set for a while, except for the Shaman who I really don't like. Not sure it will ever see paint. I retook the pictures of my Bull Centaurs, unfortunately they are still not the best lit pictures in the world, curse these gloomy English summers! First banner Second banner (I might run two units of these and the first standard bearer I picked up off ebay was quite a shonky recast) Taur'ruk Some of the rank & file And last and definitely least, my home-made Centaur musician. It's not too bad with some paint on but doesn't stand up to too close scrutiny. I think if I had another go I could have done a better job with it, I've been messing around making "proper" two part push molds using lego bases and it is a much better method. I'm definitely tempted to pick up 1 more Bull Centaur to give me a nice round 12, 2 units of 6. Finally, thanks again knoffles for the shields, I actually painted some shields!

Stupendous!
One of my favourite units that's ever been posted on this forum and there have been some great ones.
Big Hat madness!
Love the unit, from the twin banners to Hthark leading the charge to the diy musician it's all great!
Hit me right in the nostalgia.
A unit worthy of many Hashut blessings.

Cheers, Bull Centaurs and Earthshaker Cannons are the units I always fancied, would just be nice to have a game with them! I have been messing around building some more Blood Knights for my vampires so I decided to have another go at home casting using Lego bases. I needed a few more lances so I didn't have to build the command options. It definitely works better this way. I have also put together a magnetised skirmisher tray for my hoppers using some tin can offcuts. Made a slight error when I forgot about the great squig which will accompany them so had to hack a bit away

So many armies...all so well painted. And so many occasions to throw down painted models on great looking tables - you sir are living the life!
The goblin bsb and squigs have really caught my attention. You made the contrast paints really work for you, great job.

That lance is better cast than the finecast crap my Blood Knights were.
