Awesome work, Horace! I love those Bugman's Rangers! I just had a good deal of success with a unit of them in a recent game against Skaven. (Bugman himself died to Deathmaster Snikch, but the unit only lost 2.) This is one of my favorite"Old School" units and you've done a superb job painting them up!

Cheers everyone ☺ Awesome work, Horace! I love those Bugman's Rangers! I just had a good deal of success with a unit of them in a recent game against Skaven. (Bugman himself died to Deathmaster Snikch, but the unit only lost 2.) This is one of my favorite"Old School" units and you've done a superb job painting them up! I think they are a really interesting option and Bugman is useful and not too expensive, looking forward to trying them. My tips for banners: I use tomato puree tubing for a pliable metal finish. Draw it out in pencil (can do this on top of the primer if required) Paint any mettalics NMM ie gold = browns steel = grey

Sweet! It looks great!
*A word of caution* Be careful with those platforms. They'll breath off so easily. I don't know how many times I've repaired mine!

Dreadstone blight is cool, I've always wanted that piece of scenery.
Bugmans rangers are incredible! Very impressive stuff, even the way you lined up the front rank with the command and banners works really well. I'd love the have that unit. The effort you've done with the strip job and now bringing them to life is simply great and shows a very real advantage that classic metal models have over the new plastics.

These are very cool indeed. Is the tower done mostly with paint or inks/contrasts?

Cheers hivefleetmanticore It's done using my general stone recipe then I just attacked it with various thinned shades - Agrax/Athonian Camoshade/Carroburg Crimson/Nuln Oil/Seraphim Sepia For stone I always just do it the same way. Mechanicus base, drybrush Dawnstone, drybrush (lighter) Administratum, drybrush (lighter) Karak Stone. Do odd bits heavier/lighter so it's non-uniform.

Been a while since I posted anything but I have been painting stuff in the meantime! I have generally been working through the piles of Daemons I have so I can get them on the table during our campaign. First up I painted a Soulgrinder. I found it quite hard to get started on and settle on a colour scheme. There's a lot of metal on there. I was reasonably happy with it in the end, the flesh came out quite nicely although the face could maybe have done with some more work. Next I went for the Skullcannon. I originally magnetised the front so it flipped up to behind the cannon and even went to the trouble of double magnetising the letters so they could switch to the top too... and then the magnet on the cannon wouldn't hold the weight so I abandoned it and just stuck them on the front. Again, I found it quite a hard model to paint, to decide what you're painting metal etc. I think I undersold the hellblades too after looking at all of simon 's amazing daemons... he's done an excellent job on all the stuff I am also painting! I got through my unit of Bloodcrushers and a Herald on Jugger. The Herald actually looks a little small compared to the new plastics. The plastic ones are a nice kit though. I opted for classic red colour scheme and took it a tone darker. Turned up the heat a notch on the hellblades too.. still not 100% happy though Switched it up with a bit of Nurgle... got my Herald painted. Cool model. And also a couple of Plaguebearer unit fillers. There is no way I am buying (and more importantly painting) another 15 Plaguebearers so I can make the core requirement at 2500 points mono-god. Same goes for all the other Daemon core choices. No idea why they moved Furies out of core..... I made some Nurgle-y puke out of UHU glue and a little paint And finally, I got Kazyk finished so I can use him in our campaign at some point, and as a Nurgle character on Daemonic Mount after. Hard model to photograph! Phew, that was a lot! Next up I have some Flesh Hounds, Karanak, Skarbrand and even better, some Dwarfs, so Mr Blank has some extra units for his side as the Tamurkhan campaign reaches the Border Princes!

Great job on the Khorne Daemons! I love the corrosion effect on the brass, and the pink underbelly of the bloodthrone. I am currently doing a herald on blood throne too.. I can't tell from your pics - where did you attach the bloodletters chains to the model? I am yet to attach mine but it seems that they fit best when they actually cover the 'eye socket' of the beast.
Stunning finish on the soul grinder. I also have one of these to do which will end up looking quite like yours! I am still unsure on the base though.. I wish I could just use the model without any base at all..

That is a lot of stuff indeed! very cool, daemons are quite the rage around these parts at the moment. Love it, the flesh on the soulgrinder is really good, your high contrast style works well.
I am putzing around with a horror unit filler myself at the moment. Same sentiment as you, hard to fill the core on mono-god legions.

I think Horrors need some unit fillers anyway since they are such a nightmare to rank up. Possibly the most annoying unit in the game to rank. If only GW took a balance pass over 8th we could have seen Furies back in core for Daemons, or something to make mono-god a little more appealing other than the kudos for being a mono-god boss. Great job on the Khorne Daemons! I love the corrosion effect on the brass, and the pink underbelly of the bloodthrone. I am currently doing a herald on blood throne too.. I can't tell from your pics - where did you attach the bloodletters chains to the model? I also have one of these to do which will end up looking quite like yours! I am still unsure on the base though.. I wish I could just use the model without any base at all.. I didn't attach the chains, I left them unattached since the 'letters were all magnetised and they sort of sit against the front of it. They are a bit of a stupid part of the model imo. I didn't really enjoy painting the model, it has some nice elements like the fleshy parts and the throne/Herald (which I will probably rarely use!) but I found it really incoherent as a whole. The Soul grinder base is also a bit of a funny one. I sort of put mine up on some rocks on one side so the legs look a little more "spidery", it doesn't really show so well on the photos.. another difficult model to photograph because large parts of it are in different focal planes. It looks a bit static in the photos and perhaps better IRL. I personally like all my models based, I'm even going back and basing all my old warmachines as I get around to them.
