With each faction getting extra units in their "armies of infamy", I wonder if High Elves will get a force lead by Alarielle the everqueen and include the classic Maiden Guard unit. The Maiden Guard were in the fifth edition army book. They also recieved white dwarf rules for sixth edition. But they seem to have been forgotten after that. The models are armed with spears and bows. So they are fully usable as Lothern Sea Guard. But it would be cool to get official rules again. Getting Alarielle as one of the named characters is not certain. The more obvious choices for High Elf characters are Teclis and Tyrion. But I wonder if GW wont keep those two in their pocket until a Siege of Praag campaign book is released.

I do hope not, Alarielle was an incredibly boring and wooden character and I was not impressed at how they resurrected her in AoS when so many far better characters remain killed off.
I'd much rather see Finubar the Seafarer get a model, or, given that Elves are incredibly long-lived (perhaps immortal like Middle-Earth? I'm not sure on that one), any of the other characters from the 8th Edition book.

Plenty of opportunity for old characters to return, Belannaer for example.
But I do think they want to tell newer stories too.

I had no idea Alarielle was in AoS. Not sure if that makes her inclusion in WH:TOW more or less likely.
Either way I'm more hoping the Maiden Guard unit makes an appearance. But if they do, I assume Alarielle will come as well.

I hope the Handmaiden of the Everqueen model comes back. Would buy two in a hearthbeat The Handmaiden of the Everqueen is a character choice in the army list. So the model is a shoe-in to return either in the standard range or as a limited made to order. I have one in finecast. But I hope to upgrade to metal.

As much as I would love for her to return and see how she’s balanced/spec’d for TOW, she wasn’t Everqueen at the time that TOW begins. I don’t know how long an Everqueen’s ascension takes, but Estrielle might be Everqueen during this period.

Still waiting for the index books. In this case I hope the High elfs return sooner, than later. As for the Maiden Guard I hope they return aswell since I have a squad of them.

I liked to see younger versions of Tyrion and Teclis - how they were before the Great War Against Chaos.
I do believe at some point GW will likely release a Book of Heroes covering rules and models from WFB....they have a ton of special characters they could release and people will buy them....

I really hope they publish "legacy" rules for old WHF characters. We used to get stuff like that in White Dwarf. Not sure if they ever do that these days.

As much as I would love for her to return and see how she’s balanced/spec’d for TOW, she wasn’t Everqueen at the time that TOW begins. I don’t know how long an Everqueen’s ascension takes, but Estrielle might be Everqueen during this period. I suppose I'd need to read that novel for this, but I cannot understand how this would work -- presumably the new Phoenix King will enter their year-long union with the reigning Everqueen of Averlorn as soon as he is coronated or otherwise possible? Finubar was crowned at least 100 years before "current time", no (it's 2163 IC)? So by the late 2200s he's been king for a century. Say we go by that novel, Estelle(?) is the reigning Everqueen, and by tradition, she's also supposed to have done it with Finubar? Thus the Everchild must be the daughter between their union? The Everchild is the only one who can succeed Estelle, thus the Everqueen after the great war in 2301 is Alarielle -- therefore, Alarielle is the daughter of Finubar and Estelle and Finubar married Alarielle in the end so he could be led to believe Aliathra was his daughter? Yes we know he's not done the deed with Alarielle by this point due to End Time shenaningens, but in 8th edition HE army book, page 27, it is written "Indeed, in the early years of his reign, it seemed he was but an infrequent visitor to his own realm, for he spent much time travelling the world. Finubar's rivals spread rumour in his absence, their eyes ever on claiming the Phoenix Throne they were once denied. In the end, rebellious tongues were only stilled when the Everqueen, Alarielle, arrived unannounced at a meeting of the ruling council,...". IMO the army book makes far more sense -- Finubar was crowned, he took Alarielle as is tradition, but had been sailing and otherwise unconcerned for doing his duty. 2301 IC came, Tyrion rescued Alarielle, and the story moved on to 8E.
