So Bretonnian play hasn't chanced all that much then; charge the biggest thing you can reliably break on the charge... and then the survivors spend the rest of the game playing avoidance so you can win on points and point denial.

What about taking a unit of khorne chosen with great weapons along with a hero with that one item that makes everyone strike last (enchanting aura) in a 15 wide unit? 30+ attacks at strength 6 and everyone attacks at the same time.

The Khorne Chosen unit would be Frenzied, so it'd be easy to bait them with a small band of skirmishers and lead them by the nose around the battlefield all day.

My first game was against Mr Linehammer himself and he freely admits that Dragons are worse in his opinion and Skirmishers can also be abused. Linehammer can be effective but relies on a number of the movement spells to push up the units and get past terrain. Taking units wider than 10 models will normally be detrimental and with diminishing returns, especially with the bigger base sizes in this edition.

Though my zombies went 8 wide last night. I'm really enjoying this edition, a lot to like, a few janky things but those are easily fixed with like-minded people.
