So I'm going to be painting this Orc Archer up as part of a collaboration with DMG Armory. He gets free images of a painted model he sells and I get a free model (plus marketing). He let me choose what I wanted and I just loved the hunched pose and grim look on his face. He's slightly larger (32mm I think) so I might create some rules for him as a special character. I'm thinking Orc Big Boss stats, basically armed with a mobile bolt thrower. The O&G equivalent of Markus Wulfhart. So, what do you guys think? KevinC, I'd really like to get your feedback on him.

He's really good. I know some folk don't like the warcraft style orcs, but I like them and think hes a good mix of the brutal and warcraft orc styles.
If I could buy these as a plastic kit, I'd buy hundreds!

Hey mottdon, He's a cool model. I like the idea of writing rules for him as an Orc 'Unter, similar to Markus Wulfhart or an Ogre Hunter. Maybe he even has a retinue of creatures that follow him like squig-hounds or something (perhaps using models from the new Snakebite Ork range for 40K). Looking forward to see what you come up with...

Okay, well, here's what I've come up with so far: Hero:Sharpfang Skullkrakr: Wild Green-thing: 140 ptsEquipment: Hand weapon, Light armor M4, WS4, BS4, S4, T5, W2, I3, A3, Ld8Troop Type: Infantry (Character) Special Rules: Choppas, Size-matters Pack Mentality: Any unit of Goblin Wolf Riders within 12" of Sharpfang, may use his unmodified Ld characteristic instead of their own for any Ld test. Magic Items: Gork-toof Bow: Carved from a shard of Gork's tooth (possibly Mork's) after one of their famous brawls (which leveled several villages). Magic weapon. The Gork-toof Bow is a missile weapon with the following profile: Range - 30", Strength - 5, Special Rules - Quick to Fire Shots from the Gork-toof Bow have the Multiple Wounds (d3) special rule. The Unidentified Beast Hide: In Sharpfang's many, many wilderness hunts, he has encountered numerous (Orc's typically quit counting after 3) of unidentified creatures, many of which yield magical treasures. Magic talisman. The Unidentified Beast Hide grants Sharpfang a 4+ ward save against shooting attacks. Whatcha think? KevinC ?

Here are my additional thoughts: I think he should be BS 4, 4 is high for an Orc and 5 just seems too high. He'll still be very shooty with BS4 and quick to fire. You should give the bow a Strength value, rather than +1, it will cause less confusion. As written is the bow S4 or S5? Instead of the ward save, what if he can take 'Look out, sir!' rolls from any friendly Troop Type within 6"? I think it's neat he gives his LD to Wolf Riders, why not Spider riders too? Also why write 'unmodified', if the Orc is effected by Doom and Darkness, he still provides LD8? Or do you mean the Goblins are stubborn?

You could probably also use him as a Spear Chukka if you wanted to.

Also why write 'unmodified', if the Orc is effected by Doom and Darkness, he still provides LD8? Or do you mean the Goblins are stubborn? I agree with the BS4. On second look, that was too high. I was going off Markus Wulfhart stats. I prefer to keep him with the ward save, since I see him as more of a "loner" character, like an Ogre Hunter. If he had a "look out sir" rule, then there would be a strong temptation to just stick him in a unit. I guess I created a "Raised by wolves" backstory for him in my mind, hence, the link to Goblin Wolf Riders. Guess I should've explained that more. With "Quick to Fire", I can see him moving up with Goblin Wolf Riders to lend his Ld and making them a tougher redirecting unit, not to mention, giving them a degree of cover fire as well. If someone starts to threaten charging him, well, boom. There's a Wolf unit in their way with Ld8. Not too bad. All the while, that unit is taking S5 shots. He could prove to be quite effective against Monstrous Infantry/Cavalry. I didn't really see him much as a mobile bolt thrower as a redirecting support unit. The shooting gives him a bit of good offense, but I think his true strength will be in his Ld support. *I changed the OP (stats) to reflect the BS4*

Superb! I really, really want one of these now! I've never actually had an orc army for fantasy, as much as I love all greenskins, I just never clicked with an Orc army after painting so many goblins and a lot of Orks for Epic 40k. Only a handful of the models appealed to me from the wfb orc range. But I'd paint a whole army in this style for sure!

Well definitely check out his Etsy store, Mallo! There's a lot more on there! www.etsy.com/shop/DMGArmoryI'm pretty sure he's mostly a middle-man, 3D printing off STL files from Tytan Troll Miniatures, so if you have access to 3D printing yourself, you might want to just sign up with his patrion account and gain access to all of them.
