I would remove the move or fire rule from the Boltstorm Crossbow and Thunderbolt Crossbow.
The move or fire is too big of a handicap. With the size of those Judicators, it doesn't seem logical that they can't mover and fire. If it stays a move or fire weapon, the Skybolt Bow will always be the better options. Range 30' with 3 Strength 4 shots.
When the Bolstorm and Thunderbolt are move and fire the 15" range is less problematic. If it stays move or fire. I reckon that Judicators will have around 1 shooting phase that needs 5 to hit... thus maybe killing against Empire Spearmen 3-4 models with shooting in a whole game.... .

I updated the Riders of the Storm special rule in the original post (the PDF itself has not been updated). The template did not work, when writing it I forgot the Eternals were on 40mm bases. The rule now simply uses the champion model to deploy the unit in this manner, rather than the template.

In regards to the updated Riders of the Storm rule, once the champion is placed "the chosen unit must be deployed entirely forming up around the Champion model, in any legal formation." There are situations that may occur where if the champion scatters that the entire unit may not be able to deploy in a legal formation. There should be text addressing what happens then. One way to avoid this issue all together would be to place the entire unit and then scatter, rather than just placing the unit champion and then scattering.

Now that I own a box of Judicators I am thinking about their shooting ability. I agree with the poster above that the X-bows should have a longer range...especially the upgraded one. Taking that on a unit champ makes him really the only war machine available to the army.

Rick played a game a few days ago of stormcast vs. vampire counts. From the pictures he sent I believe the VC army was mainly rank and file (skeletons and zombies). The rank and file did very little to the stormcast since they have such good armor saves.

It seems people need to register to this forum to download this sample list? Is this intentional. Is there a rule against posting the rules on other forums? I'm thinking that the more people trying /testing these rules the better. On Warseer a poster said he was interested but didn't want to have to register at another forum just to download the rules.
My thinking is that if they like the rules which have a plug for this forum anyway then they are more likely to join/post here.

I'd be very interested to know how the Stormcast fair against to more elite undead. Grave guard /Black knights especially seem like they could hurt the Stormcast with their killing blow. |

Members should feel free to share any posted rules with anyone and everyone they see fit. I agree, I'd like as much playtest feedback as possible.

Damn I'm not sure how to upload it via tapatalk if that is possible. Once i have assembled and painted my Retributors i plan on using these rules. At the moment i only have 1 Stormcast painted so can't really test them. |
