Hi Gentlemen, this is my first post, but my brother and I have been playing with the new AoS box set with our 8th edition armies now for a month or so. And while we are not nearly as fine tuned as you ladies and gentlemen, there is one neat rule we came up for our flying sigmarites. We also did pick names, we just use them as special units for now. For the flying ones, we roll to see if those come onto the board, starting at turn two. they can come onto the board in the form of a comet, if you roll below their leadership, voila, they come onto the board, and then you pick where. once you pick where you roll the scatter dice. and adjust accordingly, and then use the small template to impact the troops that would have been hit, once adjusted for scatter. this causes a hit at the base strength to each unit under the template. They do not attack this round, but the next round they take up their two attacks. if they roll a misfire, they can still hit, but they die on impact. kind of fun for house rules for my brother and I, would like to hear some thoughts.

Hey Madcowcox,
Your rules sounds very cool.
It's similar to the RIDERS OF THE STORM special rule (see the first post in this thread), though I like the addition rule about causing impact hits.
How have you used your Stormcast Eternals? With an Empire army?
I'd love to hear more about your games with them.
Welcome to the forum, btw.

Hi Kevin,
thank you for the welcome.
The rules we set up to use them for the Empire and Bretonians right now, are largely based because neither has monstrous infantry.
There are two options, you can deploy them at the beginning of the game as usual, or during your magic phase you can roll dice to see if they can join your army as something similar to a spell. You can roll up to three magic dice to get them to come in, then you roll the artillery dice to see where they land. This way, they cost the same, but if you want them to come in and do extra damage, you have to give up magic dice for them, and they might not come in. they only appear on magic dice rolls of 4+. then you can roll to see where they land. So they have the potential to be very damaging, or they might whiff and not even come in at all. or if they do, they could miss or even die on impact if they roll a misfire.
or you can just leave them as a regular unit and they can come in with the rest of the army at deployment and cost no magic dice.
on another note, my brother, nephew, and son are heavily invested in 8th edition. we started 15 months ago in warhammer, and have since purchased over 4,000 models and painted well over 3/4 of them, and we have every army including chaos dwarves. then we were disheartened to hear about AoS rules and all of our hard work and books we purchased disappearing!
this forum is a life saver.

Danytee, we are located in Eastern Ohio just off the Pennsylvania, West Virginia northern panhandle. I have converted a room in my basement to the warhammer room, complete with table and track lighting and all the warhammer goodies we can pack in there for our games. I will send pictures. I made the table purposely higher than a kitchen table since we usually stand. I will set up the armies and include pictures too, my son takes constant pictures, we shouldn't have any shortage of those. If you know of anybody in the area, I am always up for a game, and don't mind a drive either.

That sounds great. We need the practice and my family really enjoys it. I have been working on these armies now for the past 18 months, and I cannot wait to start uploading pictures! It would be great to play with folks who certainly understand the mechanics and game itself better. We played for about 7 months before our local shop dropped it for AoS. So I took all I learned and tried to keep playing myself with my other family members, but I am sure we are getting some things wrong.
I will start looking closely at the armies page and see where I can post some of these pictures. Until then, I will keep an eye on these Sigmarites or whatever they are called and see what everyone has to offer on rules. it is pretty fun making up rules as long as they are balanced.
