Hey guys, The Empire wants to avenge the utter thrashing they got last time. I'm expecting more foot soldiers and more artillery. Extra rules - No dispel scroll
- No lvl 3 or 4
- No End of Times (so no double doombull )
Since my last list did so well, I'm inclined to not change much. Questions are
- Do I need 3 levels of wizards?
- Should my Shadow shaman be a lvl 2?
- Can I add a Flybull that adds value?

I'm assuming that you will likely go for the signature spell for both shamans? If so I'd be tempted to go level 2 on the beasts if only due to wysssns needing a 10+ to cast vs miasma's 5+. It all depends on what 2nd spell from which Lore you want. If you're not fussed then you have 35 additional points to spend

Good point. The uber spell from shadow is more fun though. An extra +1 to cast and dispel is fun but I doubt the extra spell will be a game changer.

I think knoffles makes a very valid point with the higher casting value of Wyssans. A Lv2 would be more likely to get it off. Since you are somewhat limited as far as magic goes, you could use a few of those left-over points on a Power Stone. That could really help if you have a low roll on the Winds of Magic.
Also, I assume you are going to group two of those chariots into 1 unit? The BRB only allows up to 3 units of the same type in games under 3000 points, so unless Beastmen have some special rule on this, you might need to group two of those chariots into one unit.

What? Does this count for core units too?

No,there is no such limitation on Core Troops. BRB p. 133: "An army cannot contain more than 3 Special choices of the same type and 2 Rare choices of the same type."

How did the flying doombull do for you? It sounds like a fun idea! You also have another thread I'll likely post on shortly too

As has been proven so many times, I suck at playing monsters. I worry that they wil get shot and then I solo them against three units. I'm much better with msu style armies... But you can make it work, I believe in you!

I want to model a doom bull with wings (if only I could find crow like wings that are the size of the DP wings or so...) just for fun. I was just curious how it worked out as I have yet to use any of the bulls, mostly just a Gor heard and big Bestigor unit does 99% of the work (or Death magic ).

The combination of chariots and skirmishers worked wonderfully for me. Bestigors to clean up and adh gor for added fun.

I will definitely champion the idea of the flying Doombull, he is literally a beast. I’ve been using him in this years competition and have not once regretted it. There are a few viable builds the one I used was the sword of swift striking, ram horn helm, heavy armour, shield, gnarled hide, Arabyan carpet and dragonbane gem. This gives him ASF (and rerolls to hit vs a lot of opponents), a 1+ armour save, additional attacks every time he makes an armour same and a 2++ ward vs fire. It does make him slightly vulnerable to warmachines and that has only nearly backfired once. The sensible option is probably to give him the charmed shield. I also modelled him with wings, my first green stuff conversion (in this thread: eefl.freeforums.net/thread/594/herd-khazbar-magnificent-beastmen - sry for the thread jack frozen) and inspired by a really old WD picture. The wings are much smaller than you are envisioning for yours though.

There's the Griffon wings from the IoB box, the old metal Lord of Change had feathered wings of appropriate size. If you want enormous wings there's the Phoenix, Lord of Change, Empire Griffon, and Magnus the Red. (I'm sure there's more)
