Hello everyone, I am new to this site although I have occasionally read some threads. I started Warhammer in 2012 and did not realise before around 2015/16 that the Old World had gone south Anyways, I only know 8th edition and I love it. I have a few armies; Beastmen, Skaven, Dwarfs, Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms and Orcs and Goblins. Best, Pinge

Hi everyone,
long-time hobbyist here. I have posted a few messages already, but could do a full intro of myself as well.
The hobby road has been long. It started somewhere 2002/2003 as a child, but as a child’s hobby – painting badly cool models and pretending to play, as a non-native English speaker I couldn’t read the rules. The spark for Old World and Fantasy Battle started early, though, and has never left me since despite long gaps in the hobby activity. I got my first real touch to the game itself in 2007, as I bought the 7ed rulebook and Dark Elf army book. I played quite a lot back then for a couple of years, mostly proxying, but I would guess a hundred games gave me the basics of the game.
There came a long hiatus for FaBa, but I didn’t leave the minis. We played a long, 60-game campaign of Necromunda (I wrote a short story after each game, it was intense), then a lot of LotR Battle Companies, and finally a short campaign of Mordheim (with Coreheim rules). However, the real hobby started in 2012 when I got my first job. With my first paycheck, I bought the 8th ed BRB, and I’m still on that path.
Painting has been the one place where I can lock away the world around me and immerse into a hobby with passion. During my university years, I painted four armies and played quite a lot: the Dark Elves that I had started a long time ago got bigger, my Empire army with 250+ models, a feel-good Vampire Counts army that was made mostly of old bits and pieces, and a boring WoC-army that hasn’t seen much play. I would guess that these armies together make up something between 16 000 and 20 000 points, depending of course how you would count the characters. I also painted and have played quite a decent amount of the new version of Space Hulk and Assassinorum: Execution Force, which were refreshing painting projects.
The biggest gaming achievement of recent years was a 15-game three-player campaign with fluffy games, special objectives, additional mercenary units and written backgrounds for the armies and battles. We also played quite a lot of Triumph & Treachery when it came up, and I definitely see I could play more of it – it allows you to bring the cool guys to board without having to think too much about the competitive side.
The last couple of years were quiet time due to real life, but this year I got back, and the hobby fever has been burning bright. I am currently making great progress in painting my unpainted collections and buying some well-needed reinforcements to my main armies DE and Empire. While I have always loved all three aspects of Warhammer – fluff, painting, and gaming – the gaming part has been my weakest, as I have not achieved any remarkable success on the battlefields. Now I aim for competitive gaming, and eefl archives have been helpful with that. Let’s see how the hobby evolves, and what the Old World might eventually bring.
