nice! I'm planning to get some water effects for an upcoming basing project (swamp bases for my Nurgle Daemons). How are you liking the Vallejo water effects? I've heard it's no good for deep pours and that you have to apply it in multiple thin coats (no more than 1/8") have you found this to be true as well? The end results are nice though; I'm thinking about a 2-part epoxy resin instead though for my water effects. I want to be able to add color and detritus to the water (although I could just get some smaller dropper bottles and make up a batch for use at any time in one of those...) If you want to have depth I think you must use 2 part resin. I have tried two brands during this river project and they are more or less the same. You will need to seal the edges very good though. I use a glue pistol and a transparent plastic card and removes it 48h after when the resin is starting to be very hard. Don't remove edges to early and make sure you seal all gaps/corners If you don't need depth, then Vallejo clear water will probably work, but I have not tried it yet. I use Vallejo water effects for the curls on top only and the mill wheel.

This is a really great tutorial, strutagget! I think that it should probably be pinned or something for future reference! You've done a LOT of valuable experimenting and research! Thanks!

Yeah, think it will look cool. Like it's coming up from the river. My neighbor had a spare arm and head. 😊 Still working on the position but think it will work out as soon as I fill the river up.

Last pieces on the way! This is all that's left: one more curve that arrived with the tower and then a remake of the first piece. Thinking of adding a lot of skulls.

Totally. Awesome.
The Troll looks great! I love that you glazed him so that he looks like he's just coming out of the water. Maybe you could add in a few bones, skulls or fish bones around those rocks there, up against the bridge? Like he has been taking advantage of unaware travelers? That'd make him appear to live there and less like he's been swept downriver by the current? That might be more work than you want to put into it though.
One other point you might want to consider; adding in a little moss effect right at the base of the bridge and on the underside (near the ground) would make it look much more aged and established. Right now, it looks like it was just build a month or two before. And what I mean by "adding moss effects" isn't actually gluing moss or terrain foliage to it, but rather, taking a green and brown wash and stippling it on the rock very slightly, until you're satisfied with the coverage. That's kind of a weathering technique. I've seen some painters use a dark forest green paint, water it down heavily and apply it, then do the same with an olive green color, then use a brown wash over it. Nice effect. You could always experiment on a sample piece to perfect your technique first. Just an idea though.
P.S. - I haven't seen one of those hockey games since the 80's! Lol! Awesome! You have all the cool kid toys!

Yeah mottdon I totally agree need to weather it down and add some flock and long grass. Its too clean right now. My river is a WIP so adding fishbones and that sort of stuff is definatly possible 😊 PS the hockey game is awesome
