Over a year since I posted here - the Chaos gods won't be pleased with my lack of offerings. Here's a tribute to Hashut: These are such great models. If they weren't eye-wateringly expensive I'd have got a full army of them. As it is, I just have the guys above, a trio of characters plus the Iron Daemon. I painted the models with a colour scheme for the Iron Daemon in mind, but there's no way I'm painting that any time soon. There should be my first Beastmen cropping up in this thread soon as well.

Nicely done. I agree I’d have picked them up too if I hadn’t of had a second child!

I really like your paint scheme here fella, the colours are spot on. I look forward to seeing your Beastmen.

Thanks, guys. I got my Ungor Raiders done. I don't love these models (they don't live up to the artwork in the army book) but they're okay. I did a few head swaps, plus an arm swap, mainly using bits from the Forsaken kit as while I like the goat aesthetic, I want my Beastmen to feel a bit less cohesive, and more like a herd of outcasts and mutants -- especially the lowly Ungors. So the guy with the human head at the front, is not far from being a particularly hairy human, and they're all different colours (both fur/flesh and their equipment). I've never liked the "bald" aesthetic GW uses for its Beastmen (or Skaven) - in my mind, they're covered in hair. So I painted most of mine in fur colours all over, with just a couple of them having bare skin. Anyway, here they are:

Nicely done! I too have always prefered beastmen as an eclectic mixture of mutants rather than the baldy uniform look that GW goes for. Your unit manages to capture that former chaotic look really well.

Nothing much to report here, but for completeness' sake, here's an up-to-date photo of my Preyton, whose base has been changed from grass to my normal sand. also darkened the blood around its mouth/claws:

I like the dark blood effect. It looks fresh. I've seen others use it too. What are you using, if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks! It's Blood for the Blood God, but mixed with a little bit of Abaddon Black. I find that on its own, BftBG looks too bright like bad Halloween movie special effects. Darkening it down a bit looks much more realistic, and splotches of it can look like viscera.

While I was touching up some Undead models I decided to put some more time into my Spawn, as I really didn't like how they'd come out. The Tzeentch one got more done to it - it's now blue tinged, and has a pink tentacle. The Slaanesh one was mainly some work in brightening up the chest/heads. Both also got a liberal dose of gore, so they're bleeding from every joint, and I brightened up the bony spikes.

My 26 Tzaangors: They're painted to match my Tzeentchian Legions of Chaos units, particularly the Warriors. They'll look funny when fielded in a Beastman army - far too ornate, but I'll cope. Despite having hated painting these, I might do my Kairic Acolytes (or "Marauders of Tzeentch") soon, as they're much simpler - less armour, more flesh.
