After who knows how many years, Matthias has finally been hit with a cease and desist letter from GW.
He is going to leave all the current Warhammer Armies Project army/rule books up on his site until Friday and then remove them.
He was due to do a refresh next year so as part of that may remove the artwork/fluff elements and keep the names/rules/stats etc as he can do that with no issue.

I always wondered what the 9th age creators thought about WAP, after going through all the trouble themselves to rebrand all the factions/units etc. Must have left a sour taste in the mouth.
It will be funny if GW subsequently copy some of Matthias's ideas further down the line.. Although I think they have already said they won't port over any AoS units into TOW.

Well he was very lucky to get away with it for as long as he did. However, it's not really much of a loss to us anyway as he had already deleted all his 8th Edition stuff a while back so he could fully focus on his own '9th Edition', after ironically being bitten by the same bug as the 9th Age chaps. I certainly hope GW don't copy Eliasson's ideas for Fantasy factions in TOW... his idea of Albion is truly terrible, little better than the GW intepretation of Albionites as Stone Age savages.

I feel the cease and desist is a shame. That dude definitely put in a labour of love. I actually printed and bound his Ind 8th Edition book for ease of reading.

It was years ago but he had the whole book available as a good quality PDF which I printed in colour and ring bound the same way I would client work in A4. Dark blue cardboard backing and clear frosted cover. Looks the business. Fwiw, I plan on printing and binding your 'final version' Beastmen army book in a similar manner š

A small plus side is that it's a sure sign The Old World is coming closer. GW acted similarly to shut down various independent Warhammer-themed video creators not long before they launched their own Warhammer TV.

One of the other FB group mods did it for a group of us just sending the pdf to a uk printers. I got a Mordheim rulebook the same way with a number of us chipping in at our club (as with everything the more copies you get, the cheaper it is). Iām pretty sure the Mordheim one was done via doxdirect.com
