Also why three small units? A big horde of Gors seem brutal.... KevinC I need to preface this with: "I have yet to play an actual game of 8th with Beastmen". Now that THAT is out of the way, here's my theoretical reasoning: -I was worried about LD. Beasts are low LD army, and they don't cause fear, and they don't have the Mark of Slaanesh, sooo... I was worried about a mob of 50 dudes flipping 180 and peacing out. Three smaller units just helps mitigate risk. My initial build was going to use a Demon Prince as General, and I didn't have points for a LD 9 Beastlord or a BSB, on top of the DP. Missing both of those makes LD checks a scary time. Missing a General of Foot and a BSB kind of steers me away from a regular battle line, which brings me on to... -I wanted to use 3 medium sized units in order to try out the AMBUSH rules. I have dreams of running rampant in the backfield. A unit size of 15 was scientifically chosen as just big enough to survive 1 or 2 spells or 1 or 2 bolt thrower shots and still have enough (10) to connect on a rear or flank charge and negate Steadfast + negate Rank bonus. Three such units will ideally help me time it out and connect (on the same turn) with a Minotaur Charge from the front and a Gor unit from the side. My general style is a bit unorthodox. I think (1) a less cohesive battle line and (2) a few more curve-ball-ambusher units will play to my strengths. All that said, I do love me a HORDE of 50 smelly, hoofy, horny goat boys. That would look amazing on the tabletop. ---------Good points. I forgot about Ambush, it would be cool to make it work.

Dude! I love what you are doing with your Beastmen! They look SO promising! I think you may inspire me to start a Beastmen army...eventually. I've still got a LOT of work to do on my existing armies. Lol.

Interesting army build. So much variety! Buying that gear for the BSB with your last 50 points makes sense to me. You want him to be somewhat survivable.

The mixed Gor units look cool...can you post a close up? Also why three small units? A big horde of Gors seem brutal.... I can attest to this. I usually run a big unit of 50+ with the beast banner and they're amazing. And then a small unit of 20 for (typically) ambushing

@ryryak Aren't you also actively painting Beastmen Gors? If so, cheers! Cause I am like 40% done with base-coating my first 50... I don't have the stomach for any more at this moment.
Also, I already made my three movement trays, sized 5x3... Narf.

haha yeah. We're probably the only two crazies still collecting and painting beastmen at the moment Yes, it's a chore, I've tried my best to make it go as quickly as I can trying to paint them. I do a light reddish-brown skin drybrushed over a darker base, then I block paint all the little details; wood handles, leather, totems, etc then brown ink all the fur and detail, making sure to leave the skin alone. Makes painting go by faster. I'll post pics of my beastmen when I get home in a couple hours. And I'm bummed, I made a LOT of movement trays out of balsa wood but they all warped in storage! Not sure what I should do now, try and straighten them (going to be hard, they could easily break) or just start over with a different material and make new ones...

I spent 2 hours last night drilling and pinning the old all metal Minotaurs. Gaaaaa. FML. Will try doing final assembly tonight. Will need lots of clamps, supports and so forth. Super gluing old metal minis reminds me how good we have it with plastic kits and Bones minis et al.
To help break up the monotony of basecoating Gors and Ungors, and the pain of drilling/pinning/gluing... I am converting and painting an Asian/Owl/Birdman Demon Prince. He's 90% the stock GW DP Kit. Extra bits, extra armor, new head, modified pose. Yay! Will try and snap pics tonight.

@ryryak and grandmasterwang I am very proud that we have three Beastmen crazies all actively doing Beastmen projects all at the same time. It's good to have an insanity support group.

Haha too true. I also use characters/bestigors and monsters to break up the monotony of Gors and Ungors. Fortunately I'm now working on Gors 36-45 (I run a single unit of 50) so the Gor monotony is almost over...(yeah right, it's never over ) Only have 10 ungors done though so still a long way to go with them. My usual list has 50 ungor and between 15 and 30 ungor raiders.

WIP Demon Prince. Stock GW Kit with a head from a Reaper Bones Bugbear mini. Still have a lot of armor plating and other bits that I am painting separately.
