Ok, so do you consider DoW a legal army? Yup. Sure ain't illegal by my book. The more circa 2000 minis, the better. If they bring Long Drong's Slayer Pirates - even to a Tourney - I'll play against them straight up. If they bring Lumpin Croop & Team, not only will I play against them straight up, I'll buy 'em a pint.

Not fer nuthin - But is there a "Broken" DoW list out there in the interwebs? I don't think so.
Seems like the corollary of [1] people that would buy and paint 2000 points of Dogs of War, coincides with [2] people that aren't WAAC types. Just like, my opinion.

Given how late the 8E Dwarf book came along, I rather suspect most Dwarf players here played them LONG before that point.

I love how Dwarfs are the 8th edition bandwagon. hop on board everybody, I sure did and its fun! I am the exact opposite - I played Dwarfs in 4th and 5th and 6th a zillion times. I only played them in 8th twice, and neither of those times was with the new army book. Must have been after July 2010 but before November 2012. IIRC, the 8th Edition Dwarf Codex came out maybe 2 weeks before a big tournament in our area. I think it was the fall Crossroads down in Elmira? So must have been November 2012 or so.

Is there something that you don't like about the 8th edition book? I mean, yeah, the Anvil of Doom is no longer an auto-include, but the rest of it is rather fun! I hate how much some of the characters cost, but oh well.

They're older now though and I'm finding more time (mostly at work - LOL!)

Ok, so do you consider DoW a legal army? Don't get me wrong I've played against CD in tournaments a few times but it's not a published GW book - or at least one I have, what's it called again? Greg It is a Forgeworld book and is perfectly "GW" legal AFAIK. It is also rather nice.

I hate how much some of the characters cost, but oh well. This is my only real problem with the Dwarfs book. I have yet to try it in 8th. Next time I roll out my Dawi for a game I will be sure to include it. It does look kind-of-crappy on paper though

All hail kevinC, savior of the one true warhammer internet talk. Regarding dwarfs, I've picked them up just recently. At this point every army book has been out for years and years so "new and shiny syndrom" won't get anybody to start an army. This would actually interest me: Longer term, do you guys plan on mostly adding to the armies that you have or eventually get playable forces for more or less each faction?

My long term is to have 3000 points of all factions (that I collect; no interest in undead/hippie elves/Phoenix throne usurper elves at the moment but that could change with new model releases) fully painted.
I figure the only way to really get others into the game is to show them how great the game looks with huge painted armies facing off against each other. And the best way to do that is to be able to supply the armies for both sides. Plus it will allow me to have models that others can borrow to supplement their own growing forces.
Once I have 3000 point armies for all the races I'm interested in I'll just start painting a unit here and a unit there, whatever I feel like at the time.
That's the plan anyway...

Ah! That'd be a pretty good reason! I was hoping it wasn't something like "Dwarves are stupid" or something like that. Lol!
