In terms of power level... - 1 bottom tier army (Tomb Kings)
This Tomb Kings player is sad. I would cry, but... Tomb Kings are too dry and dusty to generate tears. That just means that they are more of a challenge and you really have to earn your victories. That said, it's admittedly nice to have my WoC army waiting in the wings in case I need them!

That's a lot of elves. Have you a thing about pointy ears?

That's a lot of elves. Have you a thing about pointy ears? Indeed since I read the Hobbit and Lord of the rings for the first time in the 80s. Just loved Elrond, Rivendell and Lothlorien. Elves are my thing. And it helps as ASF, and high initiative is the nuts.

I agree but isn't it a bit boring to play three armies so simular - sure there ARE differences but wouldn't somethng else be more challenging? As an example in 6th I played TK and Dwarves, a race than always cast it's incantations (spells) and a race that had none. A race that was lightly armoured and a race that had planty of armour. See where I'm going with this? You're not wrong and I'm happy you get your elf on but I think I like the variety, one of the other reasons I went for Brets, again the low armour save but a hell of a lot faster than dwarves Greg

I disagree. They all have ASF, excel at magic, and low toughness, but other than that, they're quite different. WE are Hit and Run, HE are Defensive, and DE are offensive. Building their respective army lists usually revolves around those strategies. Sure, you can play them other ways, but that's kind of like taking a Dwarf army without any shooting.
And I can attest from experience, when collecting these armies, once you start one, you get a taste for them and want to try the other styles out too.

I prefer collecting and painting armies I am drawn too and like. All other end up just laying in a box and never get painted or used. I do think there are more people in it for collecting part of Warhammer then playing the game. For me it's been elves in fantasy. Might buy other diffrent armies if they are already painted or when I am more or less done with these. Also, I don't feel like collecting armies my neighbors/playing partners already collect. That removes OnG, Skaven, dwarves, empire, ogres, and lizardmen. That fits me like a glove For me the collecting part has always come first. And as I have not been playing that much before I still have years of play before I get board with playing elves. Probably the same time I am finish with my painting. I would understand that I should not just collect the power races. That's not on purpose though and not why I choose them. Except WoC as I needed something easier then WE to learn the game mechanics. Had no clue about balance when I started collecting and got into Warhammer first time.

Just said you have a lot of models that have similar stats or abilities. Sure the armies can do different things - I just find it unusual someone taking 3 elf armies, its not a bad thing. In fact what (maybe start a different post) but how are the races simular but how do they differ and how can they be played differently.

Greg But I happen to like painting blue spearmen, purple spearmen and green spearmen as long as they have elven grace. or maybe not just that example...

Slowly working on a lizardman army.
Not much new AoS stuff really works for WFB unless you heavily convert it. For the prices they charge, I want something I can use as-is. I'll buy something else for far less and convert it instead.

I just build six kurnos hunters to use as treekin in my woid elf army. There are a few aos kits that work for fantasy, the new black coach, the ghosts and banshees, the woc khorne and tzeentch stuff come to mind. I thought about buying the shade spire orc warband to use as black orc characters in my orcs and goblins army.

I have the Gore Gruntaz all painted up and finished, but the Malign Portents Shaman is only primed at this point.
