Hmmm My First-Hand Ambushers experience is with either (1) Beastmen or (2) Tomb Scorpions.
--RE: Beastmen... Perhaps we allowed special rules for core Gor units (i.e. didn't have to, but could) --Or perhaps the scenario allowed/required your ambushers to not ambush
But, yes, I always love the ambush with my Tomb Scorpion. Might be my favorite 85 points to spend in the game, ya heard?

Looks like a fun list! Hope your riders enter fast enough. Not really fond of ambush rule. Do you HAVE TO use the ambush rule? i.e. is it a must?? Let's assume pitched battle... I thought you could just deploy ambushers as a normal R&F unit in your deployment zone? Unfortunately you do have to use the ambush rule. It’s a shame as otherwise you could take advantage of their ability to vanguard. The new fireforge minis in the Kickstarter later in the year do look sweet. I can definitely see me getting the cav.

** Fast Attack & Scouts
-Spellweaver (1#, 270 pts) Level 4 Wizard, The Lore of Dark Magic. Asrai Longbow; Dispel Scroll. Elven Steed (Fast Cavalry; Swiftstride; Vanguard). Usually rides with…-9 Glade Riders (9#, 208 pts) Musician; Hand Weapon; Asrai Longbow; Asrai Spear; Trueflight Arrows. Ambushers; Fast Cavalry; Swiftstride; Vanguard. So my plan of putting a Wizard on a Horse in a unit of Glade Riders is poop?

Beastmen ambush is slightly different from the standard ambush. You can choose to place a unit into ambush, as long as you have a unit of the same type and size deployed normally (or some thing along those lines). It also differs in you have to role to see where they enter from. The latter rule is why Beastmen ambush is inferior to the standard 8th ed. Brb rules.

I assume you can do it but the wizard would just start off the table (on holiday so no where near any rule books at present to check that assumption). As an aside, the brb errata does give woodelf characters on Elven steeds the fast cav rule, so they can join say a unit of sisters, without them losing the ability to vanguard etc.

I think BRB page 142 covers it - "Characters can choose to either enter the battle on their own or as a part of a unit they're allowed to join" -- they're allowed to join cavalry units, and there's nothing saying characters can't join units with the Ambush rule. So when they're part of that unit, as it has the Ambush rule, it'd Ambush as normal.
The next bit of text talks about reserves entering, and having to state what unit any characters are in before rolling dice to see if/where they join the batlefield, which supports this further.
The obvious downside is that your expensive wizard is unable to cast/dispel until (if) the unit turns up. I wouldn't generally suggest ambushing with your main caster, or a scroll caddy, unless you have something particularly sneaky planned.

It boggles my mind that a Wood Elf player COULD take an army with zero deployment drops. Just fill your core allotment up with Glade Riders and then spec out a bunch of Characters that can join those units of Glade Riders.
--Weird.
Bring that to a tourney. Your first opponent would be like, oh hey, OK, we rolled for spells, see who deploys first, derp derp... And you'd be drinking a beer like "Drops? What drops? My drops are done!!"

I am using this image from another thread to show where in the world Fimirs are located. You'll note that they tend to be located on the River Ruin, as it approaches the Scalded Delta. Totally near where my Swamp Elves reside. The Fimir are our cranky neighbor two doors down! So, the question of the day is: Would a Swamp Elf be friends with a Fimir? The joke of the day, sans punchline: A High Elf, a Dark Elf, and a Fimir walk into a bar...[[punchline, please]] Haha, glad to see my map photo was of use. I actually edited it a bit to make it brighter and clearer than how it appears in the book. Happy with my photo taking skills there. Keep working on your bog army.. I'd say on a 4+ the Swamp elf would be friends with the Fimir. Fimir aren't a purely evil race imo. The Fimir are Chaos worshipers that seek to tear down the wall beyond mortal and Chaos realms, bind daemons, and their magic is stolen from daemons. Not sure how you can see them as anything but evil in Warhammer terms, honestly.
