I’ve just ordered quite a few movement trays, mostly mdf but also some Celtic design resin trays for my dwarves (something I’ve been thinking of doing for a while)

So... failed I have. On the other hand: 'bay, two dozen old Empire Statetroops, less than 20€? MINE! No regrets.
I assume you mean the 6th Edition plastics? Good find, they look so much better than the current State Troopers (in that they actually look human)
Sir, yes sir! I can work with the current Empire humanswhen it comes to mutants or zombies, but for State Troops they surely suck hard. I have high hopes for the TOW range though!
On topic:
... as well as placing an order for these:
I think it is quite obvious where this is heading.

I'm assuming this is for Vampire Coast? Funnily enough I'm currently writing a Vampire Coast list, I'll tag you when it's posted

Darnok Yay! A Vampire Coast army!! Nice job finding the models for it! I'm looking forward to seeing it! I will do them as project on a German forum, starting November. That one will have priority when it comes to keeping people updated - but feel free to poke me when I forget to post about it here. I will do an English Plog about the whole thing!

I will use the DoC books for my list, for reasons I will explain once I get around doing a Plog here. In short: it gives me the best options for representing what I have in mind. It also gives me an army list that can provide actually playable armies - in contrast to the one from WD in 6th edition (great for conversions, utterly unplayable on the tabletop)!

Do you know where the rest of your models will be coming from?

I do not want to derail the thread, or spill all the (rotten) beans already, but:
- CC pirates will count as Bloodletters, pirates with magical guns as Horrors, using a mix of Empire State Troops, GW Zombies, Frostgrave Crewmen and Frostgrave Cultists (plus bits and minor sculpting)
- the rules for Plaguebearers will be used for "Bloated Corpses", using the GW Plaguebearers as a start, then modding them with parts from the kits mentioned above and some sculpting to give them a more human and ragtag look
- "allies" in the form of evil merfolk will be represented by Daemonettes, using the GW models with almost no conversions (but using as little explicit Slaanesh iconography as possible)
That's it for Core units.
Almost everything from the 6th edition list will feature in this project in some form, with creative liberties of course. I will start a Plog here as soon as the first models are in a state of show-a-bility.

Is Vampire Coast that different? You're right, I don't like Vampire Counts much at all, and I'm still not keen on the Vampiric element of Vampire Coast, but the pirate aesthetics and theme of the units makes Vampire Coast much more interesting in my opinion than vanilla Counts, and given that they're a bona fide faction now, certainly at least according to the Creative Assembly, I thought I might as well write them a list. Also I'm adding additional units to the faction to move beyond Vampires and Zombies to include other types of Undead pirate you can build the army around instead or as well, including (spoiler) ghost pirates, Davy Jones-style sea-creature pirates and skeleton pirates.

I just picked up a set of the Skaven magic cards at a reasonable-ish price. The last set I needed to complete the collection.
