A 3+ 5++ is a pretty hefty save Sure is, bit it's not "best armour in the old world hefty. Especially since unlike other armies dwarfs don't have access to units with a 2+ or better save.

The age old question, that shows if you are a weedy git or propa´! - An orc or a Goblin? Snotling, obviously Haha, fair enough.. Snotlings > Goblins (weedy gitz!)

Ghorgon, Ironbreakers, Goblins Great topic. Ghorgon/Cygor kit is imo one of the very best GW have released. It was so good they even reused the Ghorgon head sculpt for the Wildfyre Taurus kit. Cygor rock (left over when Ghorgon is made) is my favourite GW designed rock with the vine at the bottom and glyph on it. Ironbreakers are just that bit more unique than Longbeards and I love the lore of them battling in the tunnels vs Skaven and Night Goblins. Goblins are to me just that tiny bit more characterful and comical than Orcs. Skarsnik is my favourite OnG special character and I love the Night Goblin sculpts and lore. Without them I'd choose Orcs. Battle of the Empire V's. Volkmar or Valten?

To keep it going: long beards or ironbreakers? I have some of each - Longbeards to expand my Core slot and bring some Immunity to Psychology, Ironbreakers to bring the tankiest Dwarfs there are to offer into the game. @luigino Ironbreakers may not have a 2+ save, but they are the only Dwarf unit to have a 3+ armour save (the best that infantry can get), plus a permanent 5+ Ward Save in close combat thanks to Shieldwall of Gromril. They make Phoenix Guard look like amateurs and are great at laughing off things like Witch Elves, Savage Orc Big'Uns e.t.c that rely upon kicking out a storm of paper cuts that can whittle down other Dwarf units.

The age old question, that shows if you are a weedy git or propa´! - An orc or a Goblin? Again, I have some of each, mainly Night Goblins on the Gobbo side to hide Fanatics, herd/ride on Squigs and just generally be cheap fodder, and mainly standard Orcs on the Orc side.

The age old question, that shows if you are a weedy git or propa´! - An orc or a Goblin? That's not a fair question! It should be "an orc or TWO goblins", given they're 6 / 3 points each. I'd take the two goblins, thanks. One to distract the orc by making rude faces at it, and the other to sneak up and plant a rusty knife in its back.

I love ironbreakers. They just don't lose combat. I've only got 20 but have had so many big enemy units just bounce off them. That said I love longbeards too but I think ironbreakers or hammerers is a more pertinent question...

Good point. I was really more into what you enjoy more than game effectiveness or similar.. But good point! I am more of an Orc player that enjoys bullying Gobbos and using them as fodder.. they are funny but evil little gitz.. Orcs are just orcs.. Not that consciously evil as Gobbos. hehe.

Loving the responses. I posed the question from the perspective of how to build the miniatures, but I think we're getting richer responses

Battle of the Empire V's. Volkmar or Valten? Volkmar. I came in at the cusp of fifth edition, buying 4th ed game but 5th ed magic supplement (14 year olds - right?) And Volkmar was in a lot of the art work. Valten just feels like a Storm Of Chaos Johnny-come-lately to an old grumbler like me.

Quarrelers or thunderers?
And why is that thunderers are for boys, quarrelers are for men?
