Very nice, I suggested my brother should do that with his War Wagon. Might send him your pics as inspiration Where did you pick up the bits from? Can you get them as spares from ebay? I am sure you could get the bits from ebay. But, what I did..and I'd like to think it is the better approach: buy the regular full kit. Then build the Luminark. You will be left with all the bits to make a war wagon into a Hurricanum. You would be short on the attendants and one piece that forms the very base of the swirling contraption. That you need to improvise, easy enough because it is barely visible once assembled. p.s. DO NOT ASSEMBLE THEN PAINT, paint in subassemblies. (and don't ask me how I know that)

That's good to know Naitsabes. I have a full kit and I've been unsure how to assemble it. That I can assemble it as both with a little imagination and some conversion skills is good to know. I just might do that now.
My bits box is lacking, but I have a friend who is moving out of state who has a very large empire army and the bits to go with it. I told him I want his bits and he said I could!
Never thought I'd be the guy excited to get a bunch of random bits for an army.

LOVE the War Wagon conversion! Great detail! I love the barding on the horses, but also the wagon wheel "caps". I can almost hear the chains, gears, and cogs click-clicking away! Wonderful!

BTW, if you (or anyone else) need something in particular - bitz wise - check with me and I might be able to help you out. I have TONS of bits I've collected over the years and ESPECIALLY for my 10K+ point Empire army! I'd be happy to send you some stuff if I have it!

20Sep2017 As you may know, dwarfs continue to distract me. But, I will no longer dilute down the trickle of Volganof work here, instead I’ve started a new project log, so this way if you would like to see more dwarfs: eefl.freeforums.net/thread/627/dwarfs-minor-gloryOkay, on to Volganof. Here are three great cannons (at the time of this writing, thirty seems to be the new productivity benchmark, yes, I do feel like a slacker): thegatesofkislev.blogspot.com/2017/09/maquinas-guerra-terminadas-finished-war.htmlFirst we have the ‘Faule Lotte’ part of the Altlangen Contingent (discussed at the beginning of this project log). It is a venerable piece, originally a donation from Altdorf proper to bolster the Altlangen defenses but in more recent years frequently sent outside the exclave. At Volganof her covering fire will likely not be enough to keep the Altlangen Contingent in the game for long. And then there are ‘Hacke’ and ‘Spaten’, the two main guns overlooking the Gryphon gate. Named for their ability to bury the approaching enemy. I didn’t put the models on bases so they can be placed on the walls of Volganof one day (full disclosure: I have no immediate plans to build said walls. Pipe dreams simply put) In total sixteen war machines are done now. The only one missing for this project is Ol’ Puddings. Almost bought the dragonhead cannon, discussed in the last update, on ebay the other day but I couldn’t quite agree with what the seller deemed an appropriate price. No rush, plenty other models to paint, 118 to be precise. In fact, it is time for: The official Volganof counter: 839/969

8Dec2017 Well, it’s been too long. Not too much has happened around Volganof, it seems this project is rolling to a stop. Part of it may be that my partner in chaos has pretty much left Warhammer for pastures more historical. Working on luring him back in is hard but, I am not giving up. Anyway, that is not too motivating and so much of my hobby time has been diverted to more dwarfs. But, there has been a little bit of progress. For one here is another little regiment of crossbowmen, proudly flying the Altdorf colors. The center back rank is filled with horrendous plastic miniatures (nope, I won’t show you a close-up, you just have to trust me). But, up front the guys look quite spiffy, GW at its finest as we’ve discussed before on this channel. The banner was one of my first paper banners from many moons ago, boy was I feeling smart about cutting out that eagle from some city newsletter. Clearly, there is room for improvement but, it’ll stay as is for nostalgic reasons. The musician’s jaundice isn’t actually quite as bad as it looks in the photo but he should still probably see a doctor. The other thing I’ve worked on is the not-so-mighty Sergey Pfeiffer. A bright wizard with a somewhat dubious reputation for letting his fire magic get out of control, Sergey will wait all game long for the perfect time to use his special rule. It’s a super-duper fireball he only gets to do once. Let’s hope he doesn’t wait too long and gets snatched up by a dragon or other beasty. Here he is in between some regimental stragglers (was filling up an old regiment to 8th edition size). The official Volganof counter: 861/969

They look great! Empire representin'!
I've always been a little...annoyed by the "skirt" legs like those on the unit champ. Why?!? I'd rather take shoeless-joe any day.
I DO however, want to paint on one dude, a kilt. Green Stuff the little ornamentation and all. It's just begging for that.

double-whammy of project updates from the good old days. I a bit painful to read about Sigmarines showing up. My outlook on gaming isn't quite as rosy anymore 18 months later. The wrath of AoS has caught up with me here. I don't think there is much going on a the game store anymore and I haven't been down in a couple months either. ------------------------------------------- 4Aug2015 Well. It’s been a while. Between work and travel and travel for work I haven’t been painting as much lately. Also looks like GW in the meantime created a Sigmarworld full of Sigmarines clad in Sigmarite. As you may be able to guess from this project log, I am not into skirmish games and that’s the end of that. Luckily, a critical mass of people is staying the square-based course in my little corner of the world so my gaming hasn’t been affected. In fact, some of the more tournament-focused guys around here have loosened up a little and are now more open to house rules and scenarios. So, all is well so far. I will keep going with this log for now, it’ll look a little out of place between Sigmarines and Aelfs but maybe there is still some interested in the world-that-was. Right, so the main focus today is this block of Spearmen. It's the last unit of the Altlangen contingent (the poor sods that start the game outside the walls). Part of that unit I painted a long time ago and now I touched these up plus added models to bring it up to a decent 8ed unit size. Was kind of interesting to dig up the old models and look at the questionable painting choices I made back then (e.g. white drybrushing the whole model. Shudder. No, I didn’t take pictures, the past is in the past). It’s a mix of 3rd + 6th edition Spearmen. They go quite well together, unfortunately I ran out of eagle shield transfers so had to make do with the plastic version. Here are two close-ups. I also finished five more Reiksguard…no picture, they look as before. Really, who is keeping track. Actually, I am! Fifty of the ninety done now. And, then there is the city of Volganof. You may remember, this is what we are aiming for: Here is where we are at: Stop chuckling! Basically, we are getting our feet wet with these Hirst Art Blocks (well, mostly hands. It is a bit messy). I have seen quite a few logs use these and was expecting this mold making outfit to be some kind of multi-national corporation. Turns out it is one guy, living the dream from his kitchen. But, it’s a great product. The molds work as advertised, I can highly recommend it. At this point I aim for building a little hovel to gain some experience before we launch into titanic towers and walls. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will Volganof. The official Volganof painting counter as of 4Aug15 now stands at: 590 done/957 total (I found some more painted guys, so it's quite a jump) So how's the city of Volganof coming?

Google 'Waffenrock'. That's what 15th century Germans rocked (pun intended). As for the city of Volganof. You guys are putting salt into an open wound. No progress to report. Main problem there is I have very limited storage space and rather fill it up with more painted models. Basically I need to buy a real house first so I can store the toy houses.

22Feb2018 Here we go again. Another brave Altdorf Regiment joins in. This one is a bit of a personal achievement for it is the last of my 6/7th edition main line regiments that I touched up and buffed to 8th size. Only took what, eight years? The unit contains some of my oldest conversions. Still quite fond of the captain. This is one of the few Empire bodies that looks okay with a knight kit head. There would have been grumbling about all these bloody foreigners in the city in normal times. But, with Lord Mortkin and his horde fast approaching it does not matter what corner of the Empire you are from. You will be welcomed, given a sword or axe or dagger and sent to the walls. I’ve also made a start on the next (and LAST!) close combat block. Originally I wanted to do Ostland Spearmen but, I got my hands on a box of warlord pikemen and it is just too much fun to go full peacock and color them up every which way. I tested out how mixing in GW guys would work. The daintiest ones (6th edition starter box) work pretty well. I think the old multipart plastics could also be okay, as long as one is smart about picking the smaller helmeted heads. As an aside I have to say, some of these historicals have rather outrageous helmet shapes. Well, these guys will keep my spirits up as I work my way through the batch of Reiksguard that is next. These are some great looking minis! nice paint jobs.
I'm jealous of you "basic human" players being able to mix in historics.

I love how "soft" you make your colors! How exactly do you achieve that? These colors look so much more realistic when they are toned down a tad. Great work! Love me some EMPIRE!
