I do not recall an actual vote. What happened is that many went to KoW due to there being an actual company behind it. I like the KoW ruleset, the complexity of 8th is actually fun to work through. For years those in my group called 40k the kids game and fantasy the grown up game due to the rules. There was no vote, 'cause I would have voted for Ralph Nader.

That's one of the beauties of the WoC book though; you can make VERY different lists with what you've been given. No two WoC armies need look the same.
It gets even better with the Grand Army of the Everchosen with End Times and being able to add Skaven and Beastmen to the mix.
