Yes, $80 kinda sucks. I try not to think about it. I also bought in for Crossroads. $65 sucks slightly less.

I'll take $65
I'm not really that into to tournament play, so that doesn't help.

I personally don't understand it. For some reason, many players can LOVE a particular game, but if the company goes out of business or the game itself is no longer supported, these same lovers of the game no longer want to play. Why? With absolutely no harm meant to any gamer out there, I'm really not concerned it GW supports WFB (of course, I'd prefer if they did). I own all the rulebooks and army books, I own more models than I will ever be able to paint in this lifetime and I know many people that still want to play this game (though that number has declined dramatically). So what does GW have to do with anything? "Rage quit" I will never understand. Very well said and I agree with this 100%! The one comment that I hear from people who are no longer interseted in 8th edition that does make some sense is they like the constant meta shift. Every time a new army book is released or FAQ is released that makes changes there are new things to try and new armies/techniques to fight against. So without this support they feel like the game will get boring or stale. But we are creating our own new supplements to keep things interesting here.

And I think that will be key in the survival of 8th. We have to push things like campaigns and supplements out.
And I'd love to go to this tournament with you guys, but...quads. They kinda have me pinned down at the moment.

I don't buy into this whole notion of older players don't buy anything either. I have 7 very large armies, and I still buy more than anybody near me. I want everything. That keeps me buying. When I see Anton's huge hordes of Night Goblins (hundreds strong), I want that. I work toward that. I've seen so many people online who's armies dwarf anything that I have. When I see these HUGE dioramas of thousands of Orcs & Goblins storming a castle, I absolutely drool. That kind of imagery fuels my desire for more and more, which is why I don't think that these old veteran players are just sitting at home on their stockpile of figures, waiting for a game to happen. I think they are the most involved people in the game and the most consistent buyers of miniatures. "Little Timmy" getting a new boxed set for Christmas or his birthday isn't keeping the product afloat. I think different long time gamers/collectors are different in this regard. I honestly don't buy very much new stuff anymore and the new stuff I add to my collection are often times trades or purchases from friends so GW wasn't seeing any revenue from that. I have the same desire you mention to collect massive and new armies but I already own so much unpainted and unassembled stuff that I usually resist the urge to get too much new stuff. When I first got into the hobby though I bought all my stuff NIB from gaming stores. In my first two years I bought probably $500 of minis a year for two years (so $1000). Now I would say I get roughly $100 of product a year (which is probably half the quantity of minis that it used to be).

Maybe change the #s slightly... For me, it was more like 3 years. 8th grade, 9th, and 10th. Man, living at Mom and Dad's really meant that like 85% of my disposable income went to gaming. I still have NIB Beastmen stuff from circa 2000 that I need to paint. And yet I go out and buy new stuff from Bones and Kings of War??!!

Thought I'd just share a few proud daddy moments. GRATS! I saw this one and was sure it was going to be the four babies arranged as the four Gods of Chaos. Lil baby Slaanesh in Pink and purple. Lil' baby Nurgle in a green onesie (complete with poopy diaper).

Rich, that is a great point on the DaBoyz GT. I initially thought, well not many people will be playing fantasy so I don't think I will bother. But you are right, if we want others besides those on the fourm to realize that fantasy is not dead then we should be going. I'll look into getting a ticket a bit more. Similar to what mottdon said though I just don't know how the timing is going to be with the baby due any day now.
Mottdon, the family pics brought a big smile to my face, congrats. My first is due anyday now.

I def encourage the "let's swarm the tournament" idea. Unfortunately, I cannot be involved this year due to work-related issues, but you guys should do it for sure. When is Da Boyz GT? And is Moyer running it?
Another thought too, maybe we should run our own EEFL GT in the future. But we could even do some new styled tournament, i.e. an EEFL Campaign Tournament of sorts. A one day, 3-game tournament or a two day, 5-game event, where every game has an effect on your army, in a campaign style.

DaBoyz GT is Nov 7 and 8. Brian is not running it since he is no longer in the area. I beleve that Gary N. is running it but may have help from some others as well. And I like the idea of the EEFL tournament.

I would love to participate in an EEFL tournament, but sadly, I don't think that I live anywhere near you guys. If there were some way, I would absolutely join in!

Forum activity is definitely in decline but I'd say it's mostly due to other social networking sites being so popular right now rather than anything GW has been doing.
