I kind of like em. But will not buy a starterset including sigmarines. But I am more interested in the hobos then the rest.

Looks like they're going the Lord the Rings route with their Orcs/Orcs. The models look fine, but the comical look of the classic orcs has been trademark of Warhammer and I would not use these to build an army, even if I did play AoS. I feel I should buy a load of Savage Orcs just in case... and 40k ones.

..so someone just watched the Hobbit movies..
I honestly thought it was a sigmarines vs chaos box set at first glance.

I just hope if they ever do Hobgoblin models in the returning Old World they don't look like that but like proper Hobgoblins with all the character of the classic models.

If they're supposed to be Orcs, why all the Squig emblems, shields, etc. Bolt throwers are Goblin things. Heck, even Trolls and Wolves are Goblin related. They just look so confused!

The shields seem to be an attempt to sell nostalgia but makes no sense considering they are miniatures to a completely new setting rather then the much better setting anyone who has nostalgia for those kind of shields will I would assume much prefer.

You're probably right, but back when they were originally making Squig Face Shields, Orcs AND Goblins were one army. It made sense that they'd be floating around the encampment. Now, they're sold as completely separate armies. There's no logical tie from what I can see.

I like the Hobgoblins (the yellowish ones) and the shield are excellent.
In terms of doing a new race for AOS, I'm surprised they did more Orcs. They should have just done an all-Hobgoblin army or something totally new. But I think this shows that Orcs & Goblins have always been big sellers.

Yes I do think these yellow hobos look better then the original that never look like hobgoblins to begin with. Just need to know what option there will be, like bows, shields, wolfs and then I am in for 122 models

I could see taking a few of those 2-knife Hobgoblins and sculpting a cloak around them for new Sneaky Stabbaz!

I don’t mind the models. As everyone else has said, the faces are very much in line with the lotr range so they wouldn’t fit in at all with my OnG army.
I’m also thinking I might need to pick up some SOs to finish that unit, just in case!
I do like the two new witch hunters but the price put me off a bit. I’m also waiting to see their scale.

The new AoS orcs and hobgobbos are actually mostly quite cool models. They just don't appeal to me from a WFB perspective, as I don't feel they fit in with the aesthetic - the orcs especially.
The last WFB hobgoblin models were so long ago, it's hard to know what plastic ones should look like for 8th, so I can understand better than these yellow ones could kind of fit the role.

I agree with the sentiment that while these new orcs are kinda nice they shouldn't replace the classic GW orc aesthetic. That being said I could totally see the shaman being used without standing out in an orc army. I'm also getting serious Gladiator-vibes from that sigmarine chariot.

I thought they were squig emblems & squig shields as well, but they are not. They are meant to be depictions of their new god Kragnos and the reason for them being so different is that these new orcs have never seen him so they guess at what he looks likes. Personally I think that's a lore retcon as they look far more like squigs than they do Kragnos, but who knows with GW.
