Hi all,
Not sure how many of us watch the Old World Wars series from MiniWargaming. I know I do and am a vault member as a result. However, today, they announced that following an End Times campaign in March, Fantasy will be put on Pause as they dedicate more time to Age of Sigmar and start a narrative campaign for that system.
With the news, I don't believe there to be new content for WFB being produced outside of written BatReps here on this forum. No more Old World Wars and not even any new "Live From The Old World" (hehe, had to), point to this forum being about the last stand for WFB.
Your reaction below!

I think there may still be various pockets out there on the web. The key is finding them and connecting them. Heck one of our forum members might be able to start their own youtube channel on 8th ed WFB.
I also think with some mixed reception for 9th age 2.0 there may be people wandering back to 8th ed.
Again the key is finding and connecting people.
There are people on the DL forum who recently said their group only plays 6th ed WFB as they find every later edition to be garbage. That's a 14 year old edition IIRC. I also a few years ago knew of a blog for an Oldhammer group that just did 3rd ed. That's pretty close to a 30 year old edition. There are other 8th ed players out there just got to get them connected.
Re Miniwargaming - it's a business and they've got to put their resources where there are enough views to make money for them. I can't blame them - anymore then I think they should be doing 6th ed WFB battle reps.

Personally, I'd love to do youTube reports (have all the equipment too ) Just don't have someone to play regularly with.

There are a lot of Youtube casters for various game systems that don't do games. They talk a lot about a book, the use of a unit or a specific tactic in depth.
You could also play games on Vassal or the like online to get battle reports you could talk about. Vassal also I believe provides some old school battle report style picture output.

Well that sucks. Although it comes as no surprise. It seems lately their heart really hasn't been in it as it was in earlier games. Especially the most recent one with Vampire Counts vs Dark Elves. It just seems like they were trying to rush through the game and "get it over with". I like how they tell everyone to "give it a try it's actually a great game" with regards to AoS. Like most of us haven't already given it a try and made up our own minds about the game. I'll probably cancel and unsubscribe - I've watched quite a few of their AoS batreps and...no thanks. The game looks absolutely boring and unengaging; not "great" like they claim it to be. beautiful models though Looks like Guerilla Miniature Games and Gaming with the Cooler will be my goto for batreps for the time being

True. But I've been watching a lot of Mordheim/Battlefleet Gothic/Lord of the Rings batreps lately. All games that I rate up there with 8th edition.

Lol I’m late to the party, just saw the email from miniwargaming on this, posted my thoughts on the comments and saw you’d all beaten me to it here. Although they said take a break, I think that means pretty much it for coverage on their channel. I wonder if Steve will continue on blue mountain?

What the heck. Old World Wars is the ONLY reason I became a Vault Member! If they stop that, I want my money back! I consider it a contract that they are now (apparently) in violation of. If I promise to cut your grass for the next year, you pay me up front and then I only cut your grass for 2 months, I think you'd be expecting a pro-rated refund! That's the way business works! Sure, I understand that they have to produce content for those videos that get views, but if they decide to stop producing, then they need to provide the option to "buy out" the rest of your "contract"!
I suppose I need to cancel my subscription now. I recommend that everyone else here who wants to see 8th edition battles, do so too, in order to send them a clear message. This is how we mass vote.

That is a damn shame, I was looking forward to going to Miniwargaming again. When I was there, a couple of the hosts admitted their preference for Fantasy over AoS several times so this is probably a purely business decision. (Which was kind of an asshole thing to do at first, as I hadn't talked about 8th and they were talking about it being a 'far superior game' as we set up an AoS game).
I don't doubt that they will be returning to 8th ed, I just imagine it gets incredibly boring to play the same armies over any over. They don't have a Skaven Army for the studio, Their TK and Bret ones both lack named characters, and the former lacks even Necro Knights.

We should eefl fund them a Skaven army! A better idea would be to try to set up appearances on the show. Guests for Fantasy are rare, and the opponent is really the thing that spices things up in any wargame.
