Post 19 - Legions Armies:
IF YOU WISH TO SELECT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING LEGIONS ARMIES PRESENTED IN THE WARHAMMER END TIMES SUPPLIMENTS YOU MUST APPLY THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL ARMY LIST SELECTION RULES TO YOUR COMP SCORE:
Once you have selected your Legion list you must then chose a PARENT ARMY BOOK.
PARENT ARMY BOOKS are the MAIN army book that you are using, whilst the other army books that you can select units from become allies for your PARENT ARMY.
ALL UNITS THAT YOU SELECT FROM THE OTHER ARMY BOOKS AVAILABLE IN YOUR LEGION LIST WILL CONFER AN ADDITIONAL -1 TO YOUR COMP SCORE PER UNIT; ON TOP OF ANY OTHER MINUS THAT THEY ALREADY INCUR.
FURTHERMORE ANY POSITIVE SCORES THAT WOULD BE CONFERED BY UNITS THAT ARE SELECTED FROM AN ARMY BOOK THAT WAS NOT NOMINATED AS YOUR PARENT ARMY BOOK DO NOT CONFER THESE POSITIVES. THE ONLY PLUSES THAT YOUR LIST CAN GAIN ARE FROM UNITS THAT COME FROM YOUR PARENT ARMY.
IN SHORT EVERY UNIT THAT YOU SELECT FROM AN ARMY BOOK THAT IS NOT YOUR PARENT BOOK WILL ONLY EVER OFFER A NEGATIVE PENALTY TO YOUR ARMY.
POSSITIVES AND NEGATIVES FOR COMPOSITION FROM YOUR PARENT ARMY BOOK REMAIN WHOLLY UNCHANGED BY THESE EXTRA RULES.
You need to ensure that you CLEARLY MARK on your army list what Legion List you are planning on using and the PARENT ARMY BOOK that you have selected for that Legion.
Undead Legions
Undead Legion armies start with a comp score of -3. Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts when selecting an Undead Legion army. All pluses and minuses presented under those individual army headings apply to an undead legion army list.
If your Undead Legion army only includes units from Tomb Kings then you start with a comp score of 0 instead of -3.
Legions of Chaos
Legions of Chaos armies start with a comp score of -3.
Legions of Choas armies WILL NOT benefit from the REIGN OF CHAOS rules presented in End Times: Glotkin. In this tournament Legions of Chaos armies will not use any Reign of Chaos chart at all; even if the army includes Daemons. We will just assume that the Chaos Gods are elsewhere, or that the Daemons presence is not enough to draw the God's attention.
Legions of Chaos armies still benefit from the Eye of the Gods special rule, as per End Times: Glotkin's guidelines, however you use the chart presented in the Warriors of Chaos Army Book, NOT the Glotkin book.
ALL OTHER RULES FOR LEGIONS OF CHAOS REMAIN UNCHANGED
Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Beastmen, Daemons of Choas and Warriors of Chaos when selecting a Legion of Choas army. However please ignore all references to starting comp scores presented in those sections.
Beastmen armies must pay points for their Marks of Chaos in a legions army list.
Grand Legion of The Everchosen
Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies start with a comp score of -3.
Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies WILL NOT benefit from the REIGN OF CHAOS rules presented in End Times: Glotkin. In this tournament Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies will not use any Reign of Chaos chart at all; even if the army includes Daemons. We will just assume that the Chaos Gods are elsewhere, or that the Daemons presence is not enough to draw the God's attention.
Grand Legion of the Everchosen armies still benefit from the Eye of the Gods special rule, as per End Times: Glotkin's guidelines, however you use the chart presented in the Warriors of Chaos Army Book, NOT the Glotkin book.
ALL OTHER RULES FOR GRAND LEGION OF THE EVERCHOSEN REMAIN UNCHANGED
Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Beastmen, Daemons of Choas, Skaven and Warriors of Chaos when selecting a Grand Legion of the Everchosen army.
Please ignore all references to starting comp scores presented in the Daemons of Chaos, Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen and Skaven Sections.
Beastmen armies must pay points for their Marks of Chaos in a legions army list.
The Host of Aestyrion
The Host of Aestyrion starts with a comp score of -3.
Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves and High Elves when selecting a Host of Aestyrion army.
The Host of the Phoenix King
The Host of the Phoenix King starts with a comp score of -3.
Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves, High Elves and Wood Elves when selecting a Host of the Phoenix King army, along with the following in addition:
-5 Alarielle, Avatar of Isha
The Host of the Eternity King
The Host of the Eternity King starts with a comp score of -3.
Host of the Eternity King armies DO NOT benefit from the sharing of special rules between units. In other words, all units in the army only have the special rules that are presented in their parent army books, models with Martial Prowess for example DO NOT GAIN Murderous Prowess in addition and Vice Versa. Wood Elf Units keep the rules presented in their parent army books also.
Please ensure that you follow the army composition presented under Dark Elves, High Elves and Wood Elves when selecting a Host of the Eternity King army, along with the following in addition:
-9 Alarielle, Incarnate of Life
-3 Tyrion, Incarnate of Light
-5 Caradryan, Incarnate of Fire

Post 20 - FAQ:
All current WFB FAQ's available from Games Workshop/ Forgeworld will be used at this event alongside this document. If this FAQ or comp pack contradicts any rules found in one of those FAQ's this document takes precedent.
Khaine Magic will NOT be used.
True line of sight will be used.
Open ground does count as terrain for the purposes of the Curse of Anraheir spell.
Birona's Timewarp cannot increase a unit’s movement value above 10, so max march would be 20 inches.
The wizard who miscast cannot get a Look out Sir from damage from a miscast template.
Units cannot swift reform and garrison a building in the same turn.
All buildings (Including Fozzriks Folding Fortress, Rock of inevitability etc) may be garrisoned by a MAXIMUM OF 20 WOUNDS worth of models and are always counted as having two floors.
Cannon balls MUST be able to see the spot where they are being placed when firing.
Cannons cannot be fired at a target that cannot be seen (if you can't see it, then you don't know its hiding there!)
Cannon balls cannot bounce through impassable terrain or buildings. The cannon ball will however inflict hits on any unit garrisoning a building as normal.
Cannons mounted on chariots, such as the Ironblaster, Skullcannon and steam tank may not pivot in the shooting phase and like all other cannons must shoot in a straight line forward from the barrel.
A model in a challenge cannot be affected by any enemy breath weapons or impact hits done by models from outside the challenge.
A Character model may make way at the start of any round of close combat.
Ironcurse Icon works against all Weapons that fire like a War Machine.
Immunity to Killing Blow also gives immunity to Heroic Killing Blow.
A model with Always Strike First and with equal or higher initiative than an enemy model with Always Strike First and Always Strike Last will get to re-roll to hit rolls in close combat against that model.
If the general character model is killed but his mount survives you still receive the +100vp for killing the general, and the fortitude points for slaying the general; although you do not receive the victory points for the cost of that model.
If 2 characters have incompatible base sizes to the unit they are joining then they are placed on either side of the unit. A 3rd character with an incompatible base size may not join the unit.
The item Chalice of Blood and Darkness cannot be used between casting and dispelling a spell.
All mounts, except ridden monsters, are ignored for leadership purposes for the Spell Treason of Tzeentch. In the case of chariots the creatures pulling the chariot and the chariot’s leadership are ignored.
The Tally of Pestilence has no affect while Epidemius is held in reserve.
Only 1 character may charge out of a unit per phase.
Virtual Pivoting is NOT allowed.
The Battle Standard Bearer may take mundane items available to normal heroes of their type
The -1S from the Blizzard Aura special rule for Frostheart Phoenixes does not stack.
The High Magic Lore Attribute increases all Ward Saves as well as all conditional Ward Saves a model may have. If a model only has conditional Ward Saves then it also receives a 6+ Ward Save.
The army list does not need to state any Lores for Alarielle. She chooses her Lore(s) at the start of each game as per her special rules.
The army list must state if Teclis is using High Magic or Battle Magic. If you are choosing Battle Magic then Teclis may pick his spells at the start of every game.
Models with the Predatory Fighter rule may benefit from it when fighting from the second or subsequent ranks.
Piranha Blade only gives Multiple Wounds (D3) Special Rule while being used in close combat.
Burning Alignment and The Deliverance of Itza target all enemy units within the specified distance of the spells. This applies even if the enemy unit is engaged in close combat or in the rear/flank arc of the model casting the spell.
Tiktaq'To may join units of Terradon Riders.
Daemonic characters with more than 1 magic weapon can only benefit from the effects of 1 weapon at a time. They must declare at the start of the player turn which weapon the character is using; any other magic weapons have no effect whatsoever for the duration of that turn.
The Cauldron of Blood does not allow re-rolls on ranged attacks or spells.
The army list does not need to state any Lores for Morathi. She chooses her Lore(s) at the start of each game as per her special rules.
A model with Hatred (High Elves) has Hatred against all models taken from the High Elf Army Book.
A shot from a doom diver war machine may never hit more than a single unit; if two units are struck by a doom diver marker the controlling player decides which one they hit. (This is to avoid issues with the size of the marker etc).
The Skaven Spell Cracks Call may be cast into combat and through friendly units as it does not have a target.
Other Skaven Spells may not be cast into combat unless they specifically say so or mention it in their description.
A charging Skaven unit that has moved forward d6 inches as a result of a Screaming Bell allows no charge reactions.
The army list does not need to state any Lores for a Skaven Grey Seer or Verminlord as they can freely mix Spells of Plague and Ruin as per their special rules.
A Hellpit Abomination that has had its strength reduced or increased will use the new strength when working out any of its special attacks.
When making their special movement attack, Hexwraith models measure distance moved from starting point, to enemy unit they are attacking and back to a legal position. The
distance moved cannot exceed their movement value or double this if they marched. They may reform inside an enemy unit.
Death Shriek and Ghostly Howl are not considered shooting attacks.
Any wizard may take the Lore of Undeath as presented in End Times: Nagash
Characters Summoned using the spell Kandorak the Harbinger from the Lore of Undeath may not select magic items OR vampiric powers; other upgrades can be selected normally.
Units Summoned using the Lore of Undeath may not select magic items, i.e. a magic sword on a champion or a magic flag; other upgrades can be selected normally.
You must show your opponent your 'pool' of summonable models at the start of each game; you may not share models or borrow from a friend during the game.
Summoned units are NEVER scoring units. (Please note : no part of the model may take more wounds than it currently has remaining.)
Wood Elves armies may duplicate their enchanted across more than one unit.
Soul Feeder may NOT be used to gain wounds back from both Stomps and Breath weapon attacks.

The system is interesting. I'd love to try it.
The only real issue I have a first glance is this one: "+3 if your army includes no duplicate choices of any kind; the same unit entry with different equipment DOES count as a duplicate choice for this criteria."
What is the logic of giving players a higher score without duplicates? Doesn't this give an advantage to armies with more army list choices? Maybe duplicate Core units should be exempt?

It definitely favours armies with greater selections but I think they are just trying to promote more unique lists, avoiding the multiple units of the same chaff etc. Not sure if the name is the same in the US but they are known affectionately as Highlander lists here (there can be only one!)

Thanks for posting. I wasn't sure if people on here did comps at all. I've never been to one myself but I've been following this one with the intent of going to a competition at least once in my life.. I looked at the Swedish comp pack a while back and it looks like you need a lot of spare time and a few spreadsheets to master it! So I think they've done a great job of having a simple system which is open to all army types and looks like other comps in the UK are using it as a benchmark. That said, I agree with KevinC .. Whereas most people can agree that the minuses to comp make your army more competitive (like taking crown of command or a big unit of white lions etc.), many of the pluses to comp don't really make an army less competitive and are more about promoting 'fluffy' lists, which I imagine is something that no two people really agree on! For example a list with say +1 for high elf spearmen and +3 for no duplicates won't necessarily be any worse than a 0 comp list.. Personally I'd like to see the pluses to comp based on the existing system of Core/Special/Rare etc. so you could have pluses for how much Core you take over 25% for example, or for taking more Core than Special, or for taking no Lords or no Rare etc.

I like that idea and I seem to think there was one US GT called core comp where you had to take 50% or something like that. I fully agree that having a few points either way makes very little difference and it’s also still possible to bring a +10 list that is pretty filthy (I know as I’ve played against a few of them as club mates practiced!). They also recognised that it’s still a moving target and it gets revised every year as the changes are mainly based on what is bought to the competitions and the combinations used.

Yes exactly. If you see a -10 list then you know it’s filthy but if you see a +10 list it could still be filthy if they’ve spent a lot of time planning it for that purpose! Anyway I was lucky enough to get a ticket.. You going knoffles or anyone else on here? I expect I’ll take lots of dwarf warriors anyway because they’re my favourite unit and I want to play with them! And slayers of course.. 🤘

I wish I was going but sadly two day events are a thing of the past for me. I love that you are thinking of taking warriors and slayers. They are two of my favourite units. I know a couple of guys who are looking to go, one is on the reserves list (Luke Blaxill - he recently posted a warriors review on you tube and is a regular at their events, as well as my current club nemesis 😉). He missed out on getting a ticket as it sold out so fast. I haven’t spoken to Lorenzo (another club mate) but I know he often attends too.

I have a couple questions/comments in regards to this comp system:
Upfront I'll say I appreciate what it's trying to do, and see that it's basically trying to be Swedish Comp Lite, but my issue is that I don't see how it makes any effort to actually balance play? And it seems like it is really only useful for tournament play since the score only applies to final standings.
I'm also not sure how it really makes a practical difference in the end? For example, let's say I bring a Tomb Kings list that ends up around, I dunno, +5 or something. I'm not sure how that +5 is really going to help me much if I go 1-5 over the course of the entire tournament because I'm still, ya know, playing TK. So instead of placing 24th or something, maybe my +5 score brings me up to 16th (or 18th or 13th or however the math works). Which, ok that's nice, but it still wouldn't bring you anywhere close to placing competitively like you could with a meta army/list unless that modifier REALLY swings placement (which also wouldn't feel great if you place something like 9th or 10th and suddenly jump into 1st or 2nd place after losing 50% of your matches). These numbers are all just examples, so please don't take them literally. I'm sure you understand the spirit of what I'm trying to say in each example.
I guess my main issue is that the primary function seems to be affecting final placement in a tournament, but unless that modifier moves standings considerably that it's still probably best to bring the most competitive army and list that you can to maximize your actual game wins.
I'm certainly not saying I'm right in this assessment, by the way, and would love to hear your thoughts/elaborations around my own. I'd also love to hear how you think this comp could be used in a more casual meta for friendly games (I'm guessing by just saying something like 'ok, everyone bring a list that's 0-5', for example).
Thanks!
